Oner Active Comes to LA: Why Fitness Fans Love This Brand

Its no secret that when we look and feel good, we do good. Showing up to move your body is hard sometimes, but showing up in a cute fit makes it a bit easier and Oner Active has no shortage of amazing outfits. Oner Active is the UK-based activewear brand that empowers women through a strength training lens (both physical and mental strength), with the comfiest and most gorgeous pieces made for women in every part of life. This is the brand you’ve probably seen in the gym and always wanted to snag a piece for yourself. The brand brings fashion and functionality to fitness. They just launched a limited edition “Legendary” Capsule Collection  with bolder and brighter colors that highlight Oner Active’s continued dedication to inclusivity, strength, and uplifting women (which is also perfect for everyday wear, yeah, it’s that comfy).

The New “Legendary” Capsule Collection

The Unified Scoop Back All-in-One and the Unified Micro Bandeau Bralette might be the cutest workout pieces we’ve seen. Did we mention we’ve been living in the Wide-Leg Jogger in and outside of the gym? We got a sneak peek at the new collection and more, with an all-access pass to their amazing two-day community event celebrating its release and their 4 year anniversary. Plus we got to chat 1-on-1 with founder Krissy Cela.

The Oner Active event took over Venice Beach with over 2,000 attendees and branded cars driving around the city. P.S. It was held in Anjelica Huston’s (aka Morticia Addams in “The Addams Family”) old home that’s transformed into a stunning event space. If you heard about the event, you were probably there. We’re expecting the event to be even bigger and better next year, so here’s what you need to know. First, for the big weekend, we stayed at the Sanbourne Santa Monica hotel to get the full scoop on the experience. This is the most stunning beach hotel with all the luxe amenities you could imagine – truly a coastal dream. It has beach views, private beach chairs and umbrellas on the sand, a delicious restaurant on-site, sauna/spa treatments, and the most aesthetic peach fuzz tone and tan decor to pull the entire experience together. We’re already dreaming of going back. From the warm welcome with champagne, to the poolside service at the picture-perfect pool, this was a tranquil escape made for the movies.

The on-site restaurant, Marelle, also has a California coastal menu that leaves you wanting to try everything, and we almost did! Our favorites were the Calamari, Pan-Roasted Ora King Salmon, and the beach views to go along-side the stunning ambiance and decor.

Here, at the hotel, is where we got to chat one-on-one with Krissy about her journey. From being a personal trainer and fitness influencer, to starting Oner Active, her own fitness app Evolve You, and now about to be a new mom, she’s the true unapologetic powerhouse of a woman. Krissy has built a huge community over the past 10 years by training and living her life on social in an unfiltered way . She told us what went into building out this amazing event and the powerful message motivating the new campaign.

The LA Girl: So great to meet you in person! Tell us a little bit about what you have planned for the weekend?

Krissy Cela: It’s the 4th birthday event and we called it “Legendary.” The Legendary event pays tribute to the 80’s and 90’s body builder era, but with a twist. Obviously the body builder era is very notorious of being masculine, think the Arnold’s (Scwarzenegger) of the world. So we wanted to do our own legendary gym made by women for women with an 80s and 90s feel to it – hence why our graphics are very muscle fitness inspired, the color pallets are very vibrant so you can stand out. 2,000 people are coming, which means 2,000 women will be lifting in Venice, which is really powerful.

The LA Girl: So excited to see the impact of the event. What do women love about Oner? Why is it the go-to for women in the strength training space, because it’s such a male-dominated area?

Krissy Cela: Oner Active isn’t trying to dominate every single space. We are here to dominate strength training for women by women. Strength training can be different things for different people whether that be mental capacity, physical capacity. And it also means we know your journey will look different in different chapters of your life. And your body will fluctuate and we want to make sure we have the right garments to enable you in your journey.

The LA Girl: I know you already spend time juggling Oner Active, the Evolve You app, and Promix, so how do you handle the work/life balance of it all, especially now that you’re going to be a new mom?

Krissy Cela: First of all, I’ve grown exceptional teams around me. At the beginning, I wasn’t able to do as much and I ended up bottlenecking myself, but now I have dedicated responsibility. The second thing is letting go of the things I don’t have control of. I was spending so much time trying to fix everything and having control, but now I control the things I can and if there’s things I can’t change, I have to let them go was quicker than I used to. And we’re all guilty of it!

The LA Girl: I assume you’ve found your favorite places, and spots to hang out, can you tell us what they are? Gyms you recommend?

Krissy Cela: Yes I have! Right now I’ve been going to Flex in Woodland Hills, I think it’s such a great little community there. I love going to public gyms, I like looking at how people are lifting and communicating, what woman are wearing.

The LA Girl: How about your favorite coffee shop,  lunch or dinner date night spot?

Krissy Cela: I’ve been loving Groundwork Coffee. They do no fuss great coffee – just good coffee. Mine and Vic’s favorite date night spot lately? Oh we have this tradition. Vic’s actually an agent working with fitness influencers and if we sign a deal together we have the tradition to go the the Inn at the Seventh Ray. Its probably my favorite restaurant in LA and you have to get the amazing risotto. And for lunch I’d say Great White, they make a really yummy ceviche.

From the second you meet Krissy, you can see just how confident she is in herself and her projects. You can even see the mama-bear already coming out with through her zero tolerance for haters. We loved chatting with her about the brand (and maybe a little girl talk) , and we especially loved our chat with Zach Duane, CEO of Oner Active. He knew Krissy’s ideas were worth investing in when she had an “infectious energy” from the second he met her, and we couldn’t agree more.

Workout Class Led by Kelly Matthews and Lily Ashton

As much as this day was amazing, the event the next morning may have topped it. The immersive Legendary event took place in Venice Beach, iconically known as the birthplace of body building. It was chock full of amazing activations, photo-ops and workout challenges! They built out an entire indoor gym where guests could work out with the Oner athletes and a posing room to take those empowering pictures showing off all the goods. The day started with a panel discussion all about navigating social media and mental health with Danyele Wilson, Tracy Bui, Yari Santiago, and Meg Branch. There was a retail area with the new collection and try-on rooms to know exactly what you’ll add to the cart on launch day (or pre-order in the digital area at the retail space). They kept guests satisfied at the OA Cafe with delicious protein-packed food and drinks and a stocked VIP Room for loyal customers and the athletes. Our favorite part was the 20 minute workout stages. Oner Athletes Mia Green and Kelly Matthews led a lower body burn with intervals that had the legs burning in the best way possible! Kelly loves that Oner is female-found and how involved Krissy is with the line.

We also got to listen to Krissy speak about her experience dealing with haters online and she took questions from the audience. The day wrapped up with a deadlift competition between guests (the winner got a full Oner Active set!). We walked away feeling empowered from the company of 2,000 women who all love fitness. Leaving the venue and being steps away from the beach topped the entire event off. Stay tuned for more Oner Active community events in LA!
