Pink October in LA: Our Guide to Supporting Breast Cancer Awareness Month 2023

Breast Cancer Awareness Month is in full swing. If you didn’t know ( but were pretty sure you do), October is a month that serves as a powerful reminder to prioritize our health and champion early detection and awareness for breast cancer. In the spirit of solidarity, we’re thrilled to highlight some of the most enjoyable ways you can make a significant impact and support women everywhere who may be battling breast cancer right now and who have come out of it thriving and surviving. Minimal nods and major movements to show support could be as small as indulging in a pink powered mocktailshop with purpose, treat a fellow survivor to a spa day, join a community walk, or donate to breast cancer foundation like the Susan G Komen Foundation. Together, let’s raise awareness, show our unwavering support and come together as a community to combat breast cancer. So, here’s to celebrating our favorite “breast” businesses, events and offerings that are making a difference in Breast Cancer Awareness Month this October.

The “Breast” Business

We love brands that are helping us girlies keep those boobies healthy and supported in every way. Whether you are small-chested, big busted or somewhere in between, you deserve to be comfortable and celebrated through your bra. For the minimal mama’s, we love Pepper bras.  Founded by  Jaclyn Fu and Lia Winograd ,they wanted to eliminate any and all shame that came with having a small bust. So they designed exceptional bras that are sleek and fitting for women with  AA, A, and B Cups. We also dig this new brand on the block, Floatley. This is a t-shirt bra that  has an ultra-soft support that lays flat against your body with no gaping, bulging, and bunching ( cuz who wants that!). For women that are in the D+ range of support, ThirdLove offers 60 sizes, including the popular Minimizer that can reduce your bust up to 2 inches. If you need a super pro in the boob department,  check out Jenette Bras in the cute Magnolia shopping district of Burbank. Their slogan is “the alphabet starts at D” and they are one of the coolest bra fitting stores in all of LA. Every LA fashion forward gal who loves the no bra look needs support too. We just discovered Nue and are in love. Stephanie Montes – a fashion editor turned entrepreneur – has reinvented the boob tape game. She created Nue for women who wanted to feel good in their backless and strapless looks no matter what body type or skin tone they are. Nue carries tape in 4 shades, plus on-the-go packets ( great for traveling) and silicone pasties.

Healthy Habits For Healthy Hooters

Breast Cancer Awareness Month is not just think about the girls on the outside, but we got to think about them on the inside too. What we put in our bodies and our activity levels can also attribute to preventing breast cancer too. So healthy habits for those hooters babes are very important. The National Breast Cancer Foundation is a great place to start checking the boxes when it comes to breast health.  They even have resources available on how to give yourself frequent breast exams as part of your self care routine. Vitamins work too. We love that there have been so many options to find the right vitamin vibes for women that target hormonal balance, metabolism support, and even menstrual wellness. One of our go to multi vitamins are from Ritual Vitamins, plus we love the metabolism support from OPositiv Vitamins. It helps kick our fitness and smart food choices into gear. And Elix is a great supplement to target your menstrual care.

Spa-cial Treatments With Benefits

Fairmont Century Plaza

Address: 2025 Avenue of the Stars Los Angeles, CA 90067

We already love visiting the elegant and luxe Fairmont Century Plaza, but for the month of October, a spa session here just got a little bit sweeter. As part of their Radiate And Renew package, when you book and experience a 90-minute Rose Gold Radiance Facial during the month of October, you will not only receive a complimentary pink travel bag with three Rose Gold Eye Masks, but 10% of all proceeds will benefit Breast Cancer research and recovery. We love that even more.

The Langham

The gorgeous Langham Huntington Pasadena Hotel is showing support for Breast Cancer Awareness Month through some great offerings and wellness events at their Chuan Spa. Their “Think Pink” Treatments booked in October will give 10% of proceeds to the City of Hope’s Women’s Cancer Programs. Our faves include the Moisture Miracle Facial and the OTO Balancing CBD Massage, which is a full body massage that uses CBD oil infused with Jasmine, Helichrysum and Roman Chamomile to calm the nervous system resulting in deep relaxation. FYI: On October 19th, The Langham is also offering a healing sound bath on the Horseshoe Garden where guests are encouraged to wear pink attire to support Breast Cancer Awareness Month. Be immersed in a healing relaxation with sounds from a variety of instruments. This event is complimentary, but a $35 charitable contribution to support City of Hope is recommended.
