Get Up & Groove at LA’s Best Dance Classes

LA is one of the best city’s to dance like no one is watching and we plan to do a lot of it especially on International Dance Day, which happens every last weekend in April. We think it’s one of the best holidays to groove to because if you haven’t realized, here at The LA Girl, we love to dance. It’s basically a universal and love language for our EIC, Erika De La Cruz. Dancing in the streets can be fun, but even better is dancing with a group of people willing to let loose and let go with their cool moves. If you need a little help in that department, let us show you what an LA dance spot looks like. We rounded up 7 dance classes in LA to work up a sweat.

Playground LA

Location: 7375 Melrose Ave.

Playground LA is one of our favorite places to dance at. It was founded by Robin Antin,  a renowned dancer, and founder of The Pussycat Dolls. Here you can take any class in any category. Their schedule is packed with tons of options, all taught by some of the industry’s best dancers. Try ballroom, jazz, hip hop, ballroom, and more. But what we love about Playground LA, their moves can easily be translated to the dance floor. Yup, you’ll impress friends at the club when you show off what you learned.

Ballet Bodies

Location: 490 S. San Vicente Blvd

The classes at Ballet Bodies will have you living out your childhood dreams of becoming a prima ballerina. The studio offers ballet classes at all levels and you’ll learn combinations right at the barre. If you’re looking to tone and lengthen your muscles, you can opt for a ballet stretch class, that combines ballet and yoga movements. Either way, you’ll love how you feel when you walk out of this place, on pointed toes of course.

BeSpun

Location: 7561 Sunset Blvd.

Pole dancing is not just for amping up the sex factor, its a total body workout and you’ll feel both sexy and strong. There is a spot called BeSpun and it has a variety of pole dancing classes for every level. Beginners will love their basic moves class and pros (you know who you are)  can refine their skills with classes that focus on aerial tricks. You can also learn some hot dance moves in BeSpun’s “Heelography” which focuses on exotic style routines. Go solo, bring a bestie, or bring the girls for a bachelorette party activity, trust us,  you’ll have the best time.

3rd Street Dance

Location: 8558 W. 3rd St.

Get ready to feel like you’re a contestant on Dancing with the Stars, because at 3rd Street Dance this is where the stars learn. Yup, this is the go-to studio for ballroom dancing and anyone that comes here is so into it. Choose from salsa, swing, ballroom bootcamps, wedding “first dance” classes and more. It’s a fun activity to do alone (in a group setting of course) , or you can spice things up and bring a date to better the chemistry. Because when you’re dancing so close with someone, you’re sure to fall head over heels and in perfect form.

LA DanceFit

Location: 10936 Santa Monica Blvd. #4539

Everyone will find a class to love at LA DanceFit. This place not only shows you technique, they also will burn some calories. Work up a sweat with hip-hop, salsa, and burlesque style classes. Here’s the best part, if you’re a beginners or a dance floor vets, LA DanceFit makes everyone feel comfortable and welcome. Not ready to show off your moves in front of others just yet?  Guess what…they livestream classes too, so yes you can r dance at home with no one watching.

Equinox

Location: Various clubs throughout LA

We’ve fallen in love with Equinox even more because they’ve got an entire members only list of dance classes to try. On it, there is Zumba, Sculpt Choreo, and Barre Beyond, Equinox’s newest dance class that focuses on toning your body. Just so you know, high-energy Zumba classes are the best way to let it all out after a long day at work. Great for the body and mind. But we also love the Sculpt Choreo because it combines weights, resistance bands, and choreography all at the same time.

After dancing, don’t forget to recover. We’ve got  LA’s best homeopathic remedies to help you cool things down.
