She’s out of the box and taking over the world! Barbie, out July 21st, is about to become one of the biggest movies of the year and if you haven’t noticed, the fashion doll has inspired literally everything that can be found on or off the shelf. Even Google has gone Barbiecore (just google Barbie Movie, you’ll see what we mean). Actress Margot Robbie – Barbie herself – has even become a full IRL dress up doll. She’s hit every carpet on the Barbie press tour in designer recreations of some iconic Barbie doll looks and we are in love. But Margot doesn’t have to be the only one living a fashion life in plastic. We’re breaking down Margot’s Barbie doll inspired outfits to help you build your wardrobe for the ultimate Barbiecore summer. Shopping has never been this fantastic.
Barbie 1959
Nothing beats an O.G look. In the first ever teaser trailer, Margot was seen rocking the original Barbie’s black and white swimsuit. Robbie also wore a similar patterned dress by Herve Leger when she returned home for a Sydney press event. Look the part by the pool this summer by rocking a modern black and white striped one-piece, black sandal heels, and some sleek white cat eye sunnies.

Solo in the Spotlight
This recreated look is so identical, you’ll have a hard time spotting any differences. Schiaparelli designed Margot’s sequined gown to replicate the 1960’s doll “Solo in the Spotlight” for the LA Premiere. The gown had tulle, velvet gloves, and Margot even carried a matching handkerchief. Classic! To have your own solo spotlighted moment, wear this strapless number or try putting together a shimmering top and bottom with open-toe heels, sleek gloves, and a silver statement necklace. This inspired look is so glam, you’ll want to take the mic just like Barbie.

Day-to-Night
An outfit change right on the pink carpet are what fashion dreams are made of. Margot rocked Barbie’s soft pink 1985 look with a Versace hot pink replica (polka dot hat and all!) in South Korea. We love to see Barbie as a boss and this fabulous pantsuit is a FIT to show everyone you mean business. Just like Barbie, Margot changed into her evening look (designed by Versace too) which featured a full ball skirt and sequined bodice. We suggest adding accessories to your boss babe pantsuit to give it an extra sparkle. Throw on a sleek headband, pink heels, and grab a white decorative purse to complete the Barbiecore look.

Pink & Fabulous
Millennial 2015 Barbie loves a good mini skirt so does Miss Robbie. The actress kicked off the Barbie press tour in a Valentino halter cutout. This simple, fun and flirty look can easily be recreated at home. All you need is a pink polka dot dress, white pumps, and a chic yellow bag. Turn Ken’s head all the way around for a date night in Malibu.

Barbie 2023
As soon as we saw those pink heels walk across the floor, we knew Margot as Barbie had to be immortalized in plastic. Yup, the pink a-line dress in the film was so good, Mattel had to make the dress and Margot into a doll. And just like that, gingham is back in fashion. Margot even put a modern red carpet spin on her character’s dress with this two piece Prada set. To make sure we’re styled up in Barbie fashion, swap those solid maxi’s for a plaid blazer dress or mini, white statement necklace, and a pair of classic pink pumps. Pretty in pink is definitely getting a brand new meaning.

Now that you look the part, it’s time to complete the fantasy by staying in the Barbie’s DreamHouse. It’s actually Ken’s DreamHouse now but still as hot pink as ever.
