What to Do With Kids in LA

Got kids? Or maybe its, got little brothers and sisters you need to take care of. Either way we live in the ultimate playground for both kids and adults. Yup, here in LA, there are tons of fun things to do with kids. So if you find yourself wondering what to do with kids in LA, we’ve got  a family friendly itinerary for you. We suggest to take notes and choose the best activities that suits their interests. Here are some things to know about what to do with kids in LA.

1. CAMP Los Angeles

Location: Westfield Century City, 2nd Floor

If you’re unfamiliar with CAMP, just know that its a family experience company that helps truly answer the question, “What to do with kids in LA?” Part toy store, part activity destination, all good vibes, CAMP delivers immersive fun for the whole family! The kids will love this place as it has a secret back room that’s a super playroom. They also theme out this room from time to time. They’ve recreated it into Bluey’s house, Ariel’s grotto, a Nike kids camp and more.

2. Marionette Theater

Location: 4949 York Blvd, Los Angeles, CA 90042

The kids will get a kick out of LA’s Marionette Theater. Bob Baker managed this theater and training center for puppeteers for 70 years and most of his traditions live on. For instance, you’ll still receive a cup of ice cream after each showing. Shows are about an hour long and feature a string of colorful marionettes dancing and moving to an old phonograph recording. The experience might feel like another reward for your inner child or something out of a dream, but either way, you’re definitely in for a treat. This is definitely a unique thing to do with kids in LA. 

3. Sloomoo Institute

Location: 157 S Fairfax Ave Los Angeles, CA 90036

Nothing better than taking the kids to a huge slime factory! Sloomoo Institute is here in LA (right across from the Grove) and features a slimey adventure with a DIY Slime Bar. There’s over 40 colors, 60 fragrances & 150 charms to choose from plus different textures. There’s also a huge slime lake to see, a place where you’ll get transformed into your own Sloomoo character, and an area to get fully slimed! 4.Moonlight Rollerway

Location: 5110 San Fernando Road, Glendale, CA 91204

Take your family back in time by visiting the Moonlight Rollerway. It’s a mostly unchanged roller skating rink from the 1950s. Groove along to your favorite songs after taking skating classes or visiting the in-house snack bar. The venue’s hours change most days of the week, depending on when it features all-ages skate nights, adults-only classes or special themed nights. 5. The Los Angeles Zoo

Location: 5333 Zoo Drive, Los Angeles, CA 90027

The Los Angeles Zoo is the best place to go when you don’t know what to do with kids in LA. The site has everything from kangaroos to snow leopards, plus interactive and educational exhibits. If your little ones get tired, chill out on a safari shuttle or a ride on the zoo’s carousel. It’s open from 10:00 AM to 5:00 PM every day, with the exception of seasonal events that happen after the animals go to bed for the night.

6. Pixar Putt

Location: 2nd & PCH, 6440 Pacific Coast Highway in Long Beach

What kid doesn’t love Disney & Pixar? Pixar Putt in Long Beach is the perfect answer to “what to do with kids in LA?’This open air, pop-up mini-golf sensation is made up of interactive putt-putt holes inspired by the stories, characters, and icons from some of Pixar’s most beloved films including Inside Out 2, Toy Story, Cars, Monsters, Inc., Soul, The Incredibles, Finding Nemo, A Bug’s Life, Wall-E, Luca and Turning Red.  Tee times start at 3pm daily. And when the sun goes down on Thursdays, Fridays, and Saturdays, it’s time for Pixar Putt After Dark. Tee times after 7pm will be reserved for golfers 18 and up. 7. Illusion Magic Lounge Santa Monica

Location: 1418 4th St, Santa Monica, CA 90401

Take the kids to a magic show. For kids 10 and up, Magic by the Sea is  full of wonder and mystery. Adults can savor fine wine, handcrafted cocktails, and delicious small bites. Strolling magicians will stop by to impress you and the kids with their bewildering tricks during this time. Then, take your seat in the theater and witness the spellbinding performances of world-class artists who have appeared on hit shows such as Penn and Teller: Fool Us and Masters of Illusion. Then stick around after the show and immerse yourself in an intimate close-up experience that’s unlike anything you’ve seen before.

8. A Faery Hunt Enchantment

Location: Crestwood Hills Park, O’Melveny Park, Tarzana Community & Cultural Center  & Kindred Spirits Care Farm

9.La Brea Tar Pits and Museum

Location: 5801 Wilshire Blvd., Los Angeles, CA 90036

Dinosaurs used to mingle along the La Brea Tar Pits, which is why it’s a goldmine for fossils. Kids who love all things prehistoric will adore the La Brea museum. The staff helps kids find fossils and identify dinos before seeing the active tar pits in person. Your family can see everything the site has to offer between 9:30 AM and 5:00 PM every day.If your family flew into LA with a wheelchair, there’s no need to lock it into place inside your rental car before visiting the La Brea Tar Pits. The entire venue is wheelchair accessible through the main entrance. 

10. Kidspace Children’s Museum

Location: 480 N. Arroyo Blvd., Pasadena, CA 91103

If you want an engaging activity for your young kids, take them to the Kidspace Children’s Museum. It provides fun experiences for children of all ages. Your family could explore what it means to grow vegetables, watch butterflies, go fishing or splash in outdoor water exhibits. Special events happen each month, so check the museum’s calendar to see what’s going on while you’re in LA. No matter what you decide to do with your family, don’t forget to keep everyone fueled for your fun. Bring a few snacks that energize your children with protein so they can keep up with all of the excitement. You’ll save a few dollars and maximize your time between much-needed naps.

11.  Marine Mammal Care Center

Location: 3601 S. Gaffey St. #8, San Pedro, CA 90731

Kids who pretend they’re mermaids at your local public pool will adore the Marine Mammal Care Center. It’s the perfect solution for parents wondering what to do with kids in LA because it’s FREE. Take your family to see elephant seals and sea lions that need a helping hand before they find their way back to the ocean. You’ll show your kids how people care for wild animals to support the environment without keeping them in a zoo forever. It could even influence what your animal-loving kids imagine when they picture their future careers. Check it out while the center’s open between 10:00 AM and 4:00 PM on Fridays through Mondays. The facility remains closed on Tuesdays through Thursdays so the staff can focus on the animals’ needs.
