Less than 2 hours from LA is a gorgeous canyon town filled with wineries, camping sites, hot springs and more. It’s got a gorgeous little downtown, with parks and restaurants and plenty of bars for when you want to get your drink on.
It’s called Ojai, and it’s one of our favorite spots to head out for a weekend away.
During our recent trip, we hit up the annual Ojai Wine Festival, which was AWESOME, and since we had some extra time to explore, we figured we’d put together a helpful guide to get your own plans started.
What to Do:
Ojai Wine Festival – This event happens every year, and if you are a fan of good food, great wine, awesome music and even FREE boat rides, you need to add it to your calendar for next year. With over 50 wine vendors set up, you are SURE to find something you like, and your ticket includes unlimited tastings, so that’s a huge plus. Plus you get a custom wine glass, that you can have engraved for free. Such a cute touch. There’s also clothing vendors, food vendors, and a big grassy area with a live band to get your body moving after some liquid courage. The crowd was awesome, and we will DEFINITELY be going back next year!
Ecotopia – This is one of our favorite spots to head to when we are in town, because who doesn’t love a long soak in some natural hot springs? It’s privately owned, so there is an entry fee but it’s only $10 and totally worth it. There’s even a small river nearby where you can jump in to cool off after a soak. Don’t miss this spot!
Where to Stay:
Blue Iguana Inn – This adorable Inn situated off the main road is definitely a spot to stay when you are in town. It’s a small property with BIG charm, plus there’s a pool, hot tub and a great spot on the roof top to watch the gorgeous sunset each night. Each room feels like a personal bungalow, and the grounds are a great spot to sit and read, have a glass of wine (preferably a bottle you got at the Ojai Wine Festival), or just relax outdoors.
Ojai Valley Inn – If you are looking for a large luxurious resort experience in Ojai, this is the spot. It’s more expensive than most places in the area, but sometimes you need to treat yourself!
Where to Eat:
Nociola – A lovely little Italian spot in town, this is a great place to grab all of the carbs! If you get a table outside during sunset, you will have awesome views to add to the already charming atmosphere.
Hip Vegan Cafe – Ok so maybe you need some vegetables too. Hip Vegan Cafe has got you covered. Salads, wraps, yummy desserts and more. Pop in for a quick lunch on your way in or out of town!
Just north of Ventura lies a beautiful oasis of canyon living, with an opportunity for luxury or laid back living.
