The 15 Best Looks From the 2024 Emmy Awards

This year’s 76th Annual Emmys Awards was crowded with A-list stars in groundbreaking couture. Top designers dressed celebs like Selena Gomez, Jennifer Aniston, and now Emmy Winner Anna Sawai, with looks that reflected on past trends and identified new ones. While some looks touched on old Hollywood glamour  (keep scrolling for Brie Larson in 1950’s inspired Chanel!), other ensembles reached for the future with statement silhouettes, bold textures, and metallic fabrics. Not only have we rounded up our favorite looks from this year’s red carpet, but we’ve identified key trends from the 2024 Emmys to look out for when putting together your on trend fit. Here are 15 trendy looks we loved at the 2024 Emmy Awards!

Instagram’s most followed actress, Selena Gomez, modernized a black velvet gown with a criss-cross, hand-embroidered privé halterneck at this years Emmy’s. People Magazine detailed the Ralph Lauren look that Selena accessorized with Tiffany & Co. jewels. She cooled down the look with smokey eyes, dark peach lips, and a wintry pop of blush. Brie Larson also looked fantastic. She honored her nominated leading role in Lessons in Chemistry, by wearing a head-to-toe Chanel ensemble which reminded us of tea party attire from the 1950’s. Constructed from black satin, tulle, and taffeta, the skirt had multiple tiers and took over 500 hours to create! To tie the look together, Brie wrapped a black bow around her hair matching the one on her bodice. Her beauty was also one of the best according to Vogue. And for a woman who has been on red carpets since the age of seven,  Dakota Fanning blew us away with a nude and strapless Privé satin gown embroidered with pearls. Together, these 3 it girls kicked off the the night of the most undeniable trends at the Emmys and trends you should think about as you’re putting together your fall wardrobe.

Trend #1: The Return of The Halter

Halter necklines have been in fashion since the 30’s and are synonymous with many eras within fashion. Whether you call it old Hollywood, 70’s disco, or Y2k, we can all agree that these stars made the halter trend effortless in statement formal wear. Greta Lee, who’s known for her quirky streetwear looks, sported an innovative lace Loewe number with a twisted collar. It was a little different than the traditional, and she pulled it off! Maybe it was her diamond and tanzanite accessories (courtesy of Tiffany & Co.) that made it work. Speaking of diamonds, Sheryl Lee Ralph turned heads on the carpet with glowing skin and Cartier. Versace also shipped her a black halter gown from the runway show in Milan hours before the Emmy’s.  Viola Davis also looked stunning in a black and white halter gown from Zuhair Murad. A pro-tip in making your halter gowns stand out, minimize jewelry to make the silhouette shine.

Trend #2: Satin is In

Some stars shine brighter than others, but these nominees brightened up the awards ceremony in bold, satin gowns. Quinta Brunson arrived in George Schakra couture made of liquid like fabrics. The inky black gown had a voluminous, reflective surface that glistened on Quinta. And with hair that resembles Betty Boop, the Abbott Elementary star was the epitome of sleek and sexy on the carpet. Resembling an Emmy’s statue, Christine Baranski wore a gilded Oscar de la Renta dress on the carpet. A mix of old Hollywood (check out her glamorous wrap collar too!) and dreamy floral prints, it reminded us of an asian silk paintings. While both Quinta and Christine stood out, it was Nava Mau’s interpretation of the satin trend that took our breath away! The ‘Baby Reindeer’ nominee wore a high-shine, structured red dress with silver platforms.

Trend #3 So, So Much Texture

Just like our girl Dakota, more of your favorite celebs wore elaborate textures at the Emmys . America’s sweetheart, Jennifer Aniston, was spotted in an Oscar de la Renta pearl-embroidered, silver gown, along with Tiffany & Co. jewelry (we’re obsessed with her diamond cuff!). Rita Ora rocked a soft pink, Tamara Ralph dress with a feathered shawl. Her look was so popular that supporting actress nominee, Eiza Gonzales, arrived in a near-identical ensemble! But in a room filled with dramatic evening wear, Mr.& Mrs. Smith star Maya Erskine caught our attention in a demure, flower-adorned column dress by Rodarte that reminded us of Jessica Biel’s look at the Met Gala this year.

Trend #4: Tiered Skirts

Just like our girl, Brie Larson, other stars incorporated tiered skirts into formal wear for a dramatic and voluptuous shape. We saw our Bridgerton star, Nicola Coughlan, in a metallic, sequined gown that layered a mini bubble skirt over a maxi pencil silhouette. To match the width of the skirt, this Prabal Gurung dress relied on an off-the-shoulder, tapered neckline to create perfect balance. The Bear’s Gillian Jacobs also embodied this multi-layer trend in her Roland Mouret gown. The red, two-piece number included a strapless, shirt-like corset with vertical pleating along the waist. This top-section rested on a narrow maxi skirt that had a back slit, revealing nude open-toed heels. And our historic Emmy winner, Anna Sawai,  slayed this tiered skirt trend with a sweetheart Vera Wang dress in scarlet red.
