5 Off The Runway Events Taking Over New York Fashion Week

New York Fashion Week isn’t just about the looks on a runway. During the stylish and yearly fall NYC event, there are tons of up and coming designers and trendy brands that are presenting their new collections to the masses at hotspot locations throughout the city. Our Editor-in-Chief , Erika De La Cruz, was able to get the inside scoop on what to rock next season (Spring 2024) on the streets of LA. Some looks are a little out there, but we love turning heads and making a statement no matter where we go. Come back all weekend for updates too!

Batsheva

We love Batsheva for its modern classics and elevated casual luxury pieces. The brand’s silhouettes and feminine styles are perfect for an every day look in or out of the office. Sneakers look great with a Batsheva dress. But for 2024, Batsheva is kicking things up in an artistic way and incorporating footwear we all know and love, TOMS. Florals, whimsical colors and structured bubble skirts and bows were the core focus on Batsheva’s Spring 2024 ready to wear collection. You’ll definitely find any modern day princess wear these looks. As far as the TOMS footwear, the collaboration will drop this fall and is inspired by the 50’s feminine flair. Expect to see some lace sewn into the shoes.  One of the best pieces Erika saw? A mini dress take on the oven mitt. Yup quilted padded mitts were strung together in black and white hues for a dress that was H-O-T! After the presentation – guest were welcomed into Bond St at Hudson Yards for a Batsheva themed menu that was as gorgeous as the brand’s collection.

GSTQ

If you haven’t heard of the brand GSTQ, learn it now. This is the ultimate luxury meets streetwear brand. Their pieces can be dressed professionally for business meetings or dressed up for a night out. Fabrics move with you and pieces can be built up for the coolest streetwear look. GSTQ is a brand for both men and women and founded by Dany Garcia, a total boss babe and entrepreneur who is on a mission to cultivate community with GSTQ. Some of our favorite looks at the presentation, (besides Erika’s Francesco Paolo Salerno bubble dress) were the wide legged suits, knit button down dress and faux leather skirt. The menswear line was cool AF with structured suiting and printed bomber jackets. After the presentation, guests were treated to Teremana cocktails, appetizers and lots of chances to mingle. Erika was able to meet some LA friends who were impeccably dressed for NYFW. Shout out to Joe Jenkins and Kevin Roldan for bringing the LA cool to NYFW.

Barneys New York x Forever 21

The start of NYFW began with the chicest event at Chillhouse Flagship Spa in SoHo. Barneys New York and fast fashion giant Forever 21 showcased their new collaboration to editors, media moguls and New York’s best influencers. Walking into the space, Erika saw walls, racks and shelves filled with the 32 piece collection. Model Taylor Hill is the face of the line and was seen in photos wearing the pieces that were heavy in metallics, blacks, and neutrals. Erika’s look, which was a mesh graphic body suit from LS & Co., skirt from Revolve, and lug sole boots from Mango, fit this event beautifully. There was a head to toe grey travel look with a knit crew that had the Barney’s logo across the chest, plus sweat pants that also had the logo straight on your behind that became an instant favorite. Toward the back of Chillhouse, the staff were offering massages, classic manicures, branded macaroons from Ladurée, custom embroidered hats from Forever 21, and there was even a co-working space where creators had laptops open and can get work done over iced coffee and cookies.

Christian Cowan x Core Hydration

British Born designer Christian Cowan teamed up with Core Hydration’s NYFW partnership for an immersive pop up and cocktail party that featured one of his show stopping pieces ahead of its debut at Paris Fashion Week. Christian’s show in France will actually feature Sam Smith in one of his gowns. But here at NYFW, editors and influencers were treated to a colorful experience with a runway of its own. Basically, there was a set up to record yourself walking  the runway. There was also an affirmation wall for people to affirm their wellness journeys and complimentary bottles of Core Hydration water. Then behind a Core Hydration speakeasy door, VIP’s were treated to snacks, a recharge of your phone and hair touch ups by Unite Haircare before hitting up more shows. Then at the cocktail party, guest were able to meet Christian  and see his creation illuminated in a Core Hydration like bottle. Erika wore a raffia like bustier top from Zara, trousers and rattan clutch and was able to chat and laugh with model and podcast host Achieng Agutu

Babor Skincare Brunch

Fashion isn’t the only thing that takes center stage at NYFW. Beauty is also a highlight of the week and we were able to get a close up and personal look at the German science skincare brand  – Babor. The beauty giant is known for their hydrating ampoules but they’ve got some new products on the market that we were able to experience at a chic brunch at The Hotel Chelsea inside their Tea Room.  They debuted their Doctor Babor line with the triple pro-retinol renwal cream that is made to make skin look smoother, firmer and refined. You can get that now, but coming soon is an eye mask that goes from temple to temple and gives the skin a Botox like effect (sign us up!), and a plant based collagen-peptide serum that plumps and strengthens skin.

As far as the fashion at New York Fashion Week, check out the runways that left us speechless.
