9 LGBTQ+ Creators You Must Follow This Summer 2022

Pride! Pride! Pride! June is all about Pride month, and even though most of the Pride events pasted, we at the LA Girl want to shine the spotlight on LGTBQ+ creators, filmmakers, and inspiring people from the LGTBQ+ community who continue to inspire the current and future generation. 

Blaire Imani

You’ll be “Smarter in Seconds” (but really.) Blaire began her mini series entitled “Smarter in Seconds” across her social media channels in the midst of a heated pandemic. She aims to educate the masses in a quick, easy to understand way that involve experts, skits and plenty of helpful information on topics that range from LGBTQ+, to Juneteenth and even body odor! Blaire has been featured in The New York Times for her work and now, you can even get your hands on a few of her new books.

AJ Gibson

AJ Gibson is an all around talent, from speaker, perspective coach, social influencer, to celebrity TV host. He has co-hosted ‘Access Hollywood Live,’ has often appeared giving the inside scoop on ‘The Wendy Williams Show and of course, he dishes out all BTS footage from his fabulous relationship with fellow media personality, Emile Ennis Jr. across his social channels. ’AJ Gibson also helps people enhance their ability to see every event as an opportunity for growth, no matter their current situation and is author of Flipping The Script. His audience leaves feeling empowered, knowing that they have the potential to change their thought patterns into an action oriented mindset, no matter their personal history.

Laverne Cox

You know we had to include the fabulous Laverne Cox. Many may know her from groundbreaking role as Sophia Burset in Orange is the New Black, but since then, she has been dominating the industry. Laverne Cox, an Emmy winning producer, produced a movie on Netflix, Disclosure, where the movie spreads awareness on the depiction of transgender characters throughout film and TV. Laverne Cox is also the first openly transgender person to appear on the covers of TIME Magazine, British Vogue, Cosmopolitan Magazine, and Essence Magazine. Her TikTok and Instagram are all snippets of her career and content surrounding the hashtag ‘TransIsBeautiful.’

Kelly Rakowski

Kelly Rakowski started her journey creating a lesbian culture Insta account called ‘herstory” where she post about lesbian culture from the 1800s to early 2000s. Then she aimed higher to be the founder and CEO of Lex, a social app where LGBTQ+ people can connect to meet friends and build relationships. In 2021, Apple’s App Store selected Lex as the Top App for Pride 2021.

Emile Ennis Jr

TV & digital host, thought leading influencer & a proud member of the LBGTQ+ community. It’s safe to say that Emile Ennis Jr is an inspiration and a must follow on Insta & TikTok. With his entertainment stories and celebrity interviews that have been viewed more than 100 million times globally, Emile Ennis Jr has established himself as one of the most successful digital entertainment journalists. He currently hosts “Steals On The Real” on FOX’s Emmy-Winning talk show “The Real” and is representing Pride Month with an A-list wedding to AJ Gibson in beautiful Cancun Mexico. The Old Gays

The group of ‘The Old Gays’ consists of Michael “Mick” Peterson, Jessay Martin, Bill Lyons, and Robert E. Reeves. They use their TikTok and Instagram to talk about pop culture and growing up gay. They also talk about the culture has changed over the years. In 2021, they signed with Brian Graden Media to create a documentary series abut their social media and personal lives. They are the ‘Golden Girls’ for the new generation.

Brody Hudson Schaffer

As a 6 year old, Brody Husdon Schaffer is all over the internet as a dancer and actor. His post frequent videos of him attending events or at home (where he does not shy away from the cameras) and shows the world of his dancing skills. A natural born performer who has a bright future ahead of him.

Michael Banjamin (LA Girl Favorite)

With a knack for comedy, his skits will have you rolling over, laughing. His content covers topics that are oh-so-relevant to Los Angeles natives. Michael found success in a video originating on his Tik Tok about LA hikers. He continues to crank out relatable, hilarious material weekly across his social platforms. The Staple, Andy Cohen is an Emmy Award winning host and best known for ‘Watch What Happens Live with Andy Cohen.’ It is a common destination for big name actors & actresses such as Lady Gaga, Oprah Winfrey, Ryan Reynolds, and more.
