Hamilton Behind The Camera Awards

The Evening’s Soiree:

What do “skeletons,” “black leather” and “5 diamonds on a face” have in common? They’re all components of the two time pieces worn to this year’s Hamilton Behind The Camera Awards by The LA Girl’s Editor in Chief, Erika De La Cruz and her date. Selections took place one day prior to the event at the glamorous Tommie Hotel Hollywood. In its 12th annual year, the Hamilton Behind The Camera Awards supports the work of the heroes behind the camera: set designers. prop masters. editors and more. Guests were welcomed through a Hamilton Showcased lobby, into the main venue of the Avalon Hollywood to enjoy a three course meal set on gold-leafed chargers and one wildly entertaining awards presentation. The evening was co-presented by Los Angeles Confidential Magazine

Presenters Honorees & More:

In need of no introduction, the evening welcomed presenters from Viola Davis, to Laura Dern and Jordan Peel to kick off an appreciative night for their fellow film collaborators. Talk of luxury filled the room and each presenter and honoree made their personal watch selections behind the curtains, erupting with laughter and excitement between categories. A similar eruption of laughter came as Kathryn Hahn delivered an unforgettable presentation speech to Rian Johnson, repeating his name around 10 times in two minutes to the audience’s delight. Other mega-rising stars like Hamilton Ambassador, Daniel Henney & actress Taylor Russell were present through out the evening’s festivites.

Stand Outs: A Night for Women

Watches as traditional menswear accessories? We think not. The show opened honoring Rebecca Lenkiewicz, director of She Said, a film following the exposure of the sexual abuse allegations made against Harvey Weinsten, as well as an immersive moment and look into the upcoming film Women Talking. The audience was taken beyond a typical 2 minute film trailer, into the inner workings of what it took to make the film The Women King and found themselves moved as Viola Davis, her co-producers, director Gina Prince-Bythewood and fellow actress, Thuso Mbedu, shared that the film took 7 years to make (having no proof of concept) and that it invites audiences into the lives of people whose stories and narratives are often not the center piece of projects. Let’s face it, we’ve seen Top Gun a couple times in theaters already, The LA Girl Recommendation: Let’s make the time to get our butts into theater to watch the masterpiece that is The Woman King. We’re on the cusp of new era!

What They Wore:

The LA Girl Editor in Chief wore a statement Jean-Louis Sabaji. The mini featured gold crickets climbing up the velvet, navy textures that matched her Hamilton Jazzmaster Lady Quartz 5-diamond incrusted watch. Some of our favorites included honoree Marci Rodger’s multi colored pant suit, Carey Mulligan’s Ombre jeweled blazer set, Kathryn Hahn’s plunging dark sleeveless top (accessorized with long black gloves, which she wore the entire evening) and the mens-wear dark navy hues to classic black and white to leave room for the stand-out Hamilton pieces on their wrists.
