Every LA Girl knows that this city is full of new places to eat and things to try. There’s always something happening every day of the week. We check numerous sites, our Twitter feeds, our Facebook pages, and Instagram – and there’s a lot. Some times, there’s too many options and it’s hard to plan out which ones we’re actually going to do. So I’m here to help with the latest food and drink trends every LA girl needs to know about!
Your Own Personal Dining Concierge
Ever wanted a table at that awesome restaurant? But it’s Thursday and unless you’re a celebrity or you know someone, you’re probably not going to get lucky. Then, I discovered Reserve. It’s a dining concierge app that helps you get those hard-to-get tables at the coolest restaurants in town. It’s super easy to use! You make a reservation at the restaurant of your choice (you can choose back-ups as well!) and they will text you and work with you to get a reservation. If nothing is available, they will offer you alternate times or dates.
The coolest thing about is that your bill goes through the app and you don’t have to take care of any payment at the restaurant. Reserve charges a $5 fee for every time you use the service. Some other cool perks are that this service is at no cost to the restaurants (Open Table charges restaurants per head for people who make reservations from there) and that gives them an incentive to commit to a reservation. Also, the restaurants love Reserve diners because they view them as “quality” diners that will keep coming back. Every time I’ve used Reserve, they have greeted me by name, gave me a great table and amazing service.
If you download the app, make sure to use my code “THELAGIRL” to get a $25 dining credit, upon completing your first reservation and dining experience. I will get $5 credited to my account- so it’s a win-win for me!
The Tequila Evolution
Casa Herradura is a renowned Mexican distillery known for producing high-quality tequila since 1870. They use traditional, artisanal methods to create award-winning tequila and have released several different types including a Port Cask Finish Reposado and a Cognac Cask Finish Reposado.
This year, they produced a Scotch Cask Finish Reposado. This small-batch tequila is produced using the finest blue agave and traditional methods including fermentation. Then the tequila is placed in American oak casks, and finally in single malt Scotch casks for a uniquely distinct taste.
I was honored to be invited to the private media tasting of the Tequila Herradura Coleccion de la Casa, Reserva 2014 which took place at Redbird. I was able to enjoy an exclusive tequila tasting paired with an amazing dinner prepared by Chef Neil Fraser. As a scotch drinker, I really liked the taste of the Scotch Cask Finish Reposado! So if you’re ever at the Redbird, make sure you ask for it off the shelf!
