What Editor-In-Chief Erika De La Cruz Wore to New York Fashion Week

Photos in This Piece by Daniel Curtis

There should be a national holiday dedicated to planning outfits for New York Fashion Week. The process is intentional, timely, and requires so much thought babes. It’s true…think about it. You’re headed toward the second biggest fashion captial of the world where the streets are lined with trendsetters, stylish influencers, and those who effortlessly look cool on the daily. Intimidation can creep in fast but that wasn’t the case for our fashionable Editor in Chief – Erika De La Cruz – who wanted each fit she wore to NYFW to be a statement. We’re about to break down all of Erika’s New York looks and adding in some pieces to get the look in real life too. Get ready to shop, because something here is about to inspire you. Casual Luxury

Grabbing coffee around the city can be a chic street style moment if you’ve got the right set. A matching vest with matching trousers scream poise and posh all at the same time. Loafers or sneakers are a great choice to complete the look.  Pro-fashion tip: Stick to neutrals or blacks to get that casual luxury aesthetic. Erika loved roaming the streets in this Greylin set and lucky for us it’s available right now.

Designer Party

The NYFW runways were cool, but the parties were even cooler. To look the part of big time magazine editor turned flirty fashion girl, Erika kicked things up a notch by adding some flair with a feminine and feathered skirt from Alice & Olivia and sequined bustier. Wearing these two pieces alone doesn’t truly give this outfit justice but if you add a black blazer over it, it will elevate it to a business chic level. Black heels complete this great fit too.

Rocker Chic

We all want to rock that concert chic look sometime in our lives. Erika’s moment was when she visited the Barneys x Forever 21 launch in SoHo and out parent publisher – Penske Media and She Media on – 5th Ave. She paired an LS & Co. mesh graphic top with a leather mini skirt and black Chelsea boots from Mango. Throw on a pair of black sunnies and you’re rocking babe! Truly anyone can pull off this look, so we suggest trying these items now just in time for Fall.

Sophisticated & Seen

Nothing beats a touch of elegance during NYFW. Erika wanted her first fall runway of 2023 to be a night to remember and she picked the perfect dress to wear. Bubble skirts are in and when they come in the form of a mini dress you can’’t go wrong. Erika found this dress by Francesco Paolo Salerno and fell in love with its charm. To complete the look she wore Marc Fisher heels and a sparkling black mini bucket bag by Elie Saab and yes the compliments were coming from everyone.

Disco Beat

Looking at this bustier from afar you’d think they were records, but actually they’re raffia embellishments. The top had definitely turned heads during the nights events which included a Batsheva x Toms launch and a Christian Cowan Preview. To keep all eyes up top, Erika paired this one with simple high waited trousers, chic heels, and a rattan clutch.

The Statement

Pretty sure you have a statement jacket or dress in the closet ready to be pulled for just the right fashion moment. Erika had one too. She couldn’t wait to wear this red fringed number from Proenza Schouler at the Libertine runway. It was all business in the front but was all party in the back. The jacket was a sight, and to not overwhelm the look, Erika threw her hair up and paired it with a black velvet and see-through dress from Mew Mews, heels and metallic silver clutch (metallic is in by the way). From head to toe there was always something fun to look at with this outfit.

Western Preppy

Who didn’t’ love binging Wednesday on Netflix? Yup, we definitely pulled some creepy Adams girl style for this rainy day in New York. One thing to note about NYC, you never know when a storm will hit. On her way to the KGL runway which took place during a full rainy day, Erika styled this H & M bubble skirt with a clean white button down, and chunky sweater on top. She threw on her Chelsea boots and completed the look with a bolo tie form Ralph Lauren and Prada bag.

Paris meets New York

For the final day of New York Fashion Week, Erika wanted to give a nod to the upcoming Paris fashion Week with this cream Jaquesmus two piece suspender crop set. Erika attended both the Global Fashion Collective Runway in this set and the Melke runway at Spring Studios. She completed the look with white statement boots and a cream shoulder bag.  Tres chic!

Luxe Lounging

As much as we love fashion week, we love a good day to just rest and lounge in our PJ’s. The team did just that after this robust and full week of so many stylish trends on and off the runway. A great go-to for comfy and luxe loungewear is Printfresh. They have so many cute styles and patterns for a girls night in with pizza and wine. Their matching shorts and pants set are even good enough to go pick up pizza (in case ya run out). Be on the lookout for their new fall and  holiday styles too.
