All About LA Food + Drink Guide to LA

LA’s 5 Best Bagel Shops are Even Better than Bagels In NYC

What’s not to love about bagels? They’re a quick breakfast fave that can be eaten simply with cream cheese, yummy toppings, or you can make them into a sandwich. Our friends on the East Coast might think they do bagels best. But we think these LA bagel joints give them a run for their money.

1. Yeastie Boys Bagels

Various locations in Silver Lake, Studio City, Brentwood, Los Feliz, Venice, DTLA, and Melrose Place

Hours: Vary by location

Yeastie Boys Bagels is famous for its mouthwatering bagels and breakfast sandwiches. Its menu includes the basics, like a bagel and schmear (cream cheese). You can also go big with one of the monster breakfast sandwiches, like The Cheddy Wap (fried egg, bacon, and melted sharp cheddar on a plain bagel). It’s the perfect weekend breakfast and let’s be real – a great hangover cure. Yeastie Boys’ also offers delivery and pickup. Be sure to check out Yeastie Boys’ IG page for their food truck schedules throughout the city.

2. Courage Bagels

Location: 777 N Virgil Ave., Silver Lake

Hours: Thursday – Monday: 7 a.m. – 2 p.m.

There’s a reason there’s always a huge line at Courage Bagels. It’s because their crispy Montreal-style bagels are unlike anything else in LA! Courage specializes in handcrafted bagel sandwiches, with toppings like lox, whitefish, capers, cream cheese, and veggies. If you’d like to experience their bagels, you can only do so from Thursdays through Mondays. And, make sure you get there early since their line gets long fast!

4. GTA (Gjelina Take Away)

Location: 1427 Abbot Kinney Blvd., Venice

Hours: Thursday – Saturday: 7 a.m. – 10 p.m. & Sunday – Wednesday: 7 a.m. – 9 p.m.

GTA knows carbs, and how to make ’em right. They serve a pretty mean pizza, but during breakfast, it’s all about their bagels. Try one of their breakfast sandwiches on a bagel. Veggie lovers can grab a sesame or everything bagel, and top it with cream cheese, sprouts, tomato, avocado, and pickles. It’s the best snack after a morning walk on the beach. You can also order GTA for local delivery or pickup.
