Can’t keep a plant alive to save your life? Trust us, you aren’t alone! Sometimes it feels like no matter what steps you take or how much you water a plant, it just won’t stay alive. Ugh! So, we went on a mission to get our answers and discover which plants are right for us “beginners.” We went way back to The LA Girl’s Previous Editor-in-Chief, Gwen Lane, to get all of our plant questions answered. Remember her?! A one-time LA Girl blogger, now helping creators monetize and last but not least, a total plant Connoisseur. She’s a gal who can truly do it all, and thus why we trust her to help us keep our plants alive. Follow along to discover which house plants you can keep alive even if you don’t have a green thumb. (But first, maybe go buy some cute pots and growing essentials!)
1. Snake plant
Dracaena trifasciata
LA Girl Tip: The Snake Plant needs to be watered every 2-8 weeks depending on the season and your home environment.
2. ZZ plant
Zamioculcas zamiifolia
LA Girl Tip: The ZZ Plant needs to be watered every 2-3 weeks if it sits in a sunny, warm spot.
3. Spider plant
Chlorophytum comosum
LA Girl Tip: The Spider plant needs to be watered once a week.
4. Pothos Plant
Epipremnum aureum
LA Girl Tip: The Pothos Plant needs to be watered every 1-2 weeks, allowing the soil to dry out before watering again.
5. Swiss Cheese Plant or Split Leaf
Monstera Deliciosa
LA Girl Tip: The Split Leaf plant needs to be watered every 1-2 weeks. These plants enjoy bright, but in-direct light to live a healthy life.
6. The Chinese Money Plant
Pilea Peperomides
LA Girl Tip: The Chinese Money Plant needs to be watered weekly. This plant is easy to take care of but tends to die due to overwatering.
