There are a million and one Los Angeles events in August 2015 and it’s hard to sift through pages of concerts, festivals, and happenings when there’s just so many options. Fortunately, you’re smart and you’re okay with someone doing the work for you. Well here’s my list of my top picks of Los Angeles Events in August 2015. Enjoy!

You can’t exactly spectate KCRW’s 24-Hour Radio Race, but you can compete. Radio producers from around the world are emailed a theme and then have 24 hours to write, record and edit a non-fiction radio story. Even if you have no production experience, a small registration fee separates you from stardom behind the mike. Completed stories are judged for a chance to win one of four slots on the air.

For the family …
Every two years, Disnerds come together to celebrate all things Disney and see what sort of magic the company has been working on. Peek inside the Disney Archives and the latest ride designs and inventions from Walt Disney Imagineering. If you’re not afraid to stand in line, the weekend’s keynotes include the Legends induction ceremony and a look at upcoming releases from Pixar, Marvel as well as the latest from the Disney theme parks.

This two-weekend event celebrates Japanese culture with displays of martial arts, tea ceremonies, flower arranging, a parade that culminates with the coronation of the Nisei Week Queen and more!

“CicLAvia,” (Spanish for “bike way”) can also be used to describe a temporary closing of LA’s streets. Inspired by the first Ciclovías in Bogotá, Colombia bikes, tricycles, skateboards, strollers and smiles are welcomed to ride a rotating cast of car-free routes. Expect music, street performances and food trucks! Shop owners and restaurants along the CicLAvia route will also open their doors. So bike or take the Metro to your desired spot along the route!
