We made it to the end of 2018! Is is just me or did this year fly by? December in LA is always a fun one, whether you’re here to visit or you hang around for the holidays. There are fewer crowds, tons of incredible activations, and best of all – no snow to shovel! Here are 10 awesome things to do in LA this December!
Watch Love Actually Live
Everyone’s favorite holiday movie comes to life this December, including mine! Performed by a star-studded cast and a 15-piece orchestra, Love Actually Live will be at the Wallis Annenberg Center for the Performing Arts December 4-31st.
Check out Grand Park’s Winter Glow
Grand Park is offering something a little different than your standard holiday light show – an interactive playground you can climb! This art, projection, and light display is family-friendly, or take your latest Bumble match for a romantic and unique date. Just remember to thank us at your wedding for the idea.
See the Nutcracker
Is there anything more quintessentially winter than going to the ballet? Get dressed up and catch the Los Angeles Ballet’s performance of the Nutcracker or the Moscow Ballet’s version of this Christmas Classic at the Wiltern.

Ice Skate at Pershing Square
We may miss out on snow here in LA, but you can still sip hot cocoa and live out your RomCom meet-cute fantasy while ice skating at Pershing Square. Head to DTLA to lace up your skates now through January.
Immerse Yourself in Wonderland
This holiday pop-up by Alexa Meade will make you feel as though you stepped right into a painting. This exhibit has no entrance fees and on select nights the artist herself will stop by to paint guests!
Head to the Park
With over 450 parks to choose from, it’s no wonder #ParkSeasonNeverEnds in Los Angeles! Why the hashtag? To commemorate their 10th year, the Los Angeles Parks Foundation just launched this campaign because it’s always park season here, all-year long! The Los Angeles Parks Foundation is the organization behind all these wonderful parks, working with and supporting the City of Los Angeles Department of Recreation and Parks to help keep our parks clean, safe and in good shape. Head over to http://laparksfoundation.org to learn all about their programs and what they do for our communities. You can even use their Park Finder feature to help you locate the perfect park based on the activity you want to do. And for less than the cost of a latte, you can help keep our parks going by donating and giving back to the parks that give so much to you!
Take A Tour of Christmas Lights
Create your own Christmas lights crawl! Pack your car with some hot chocolate, good friends, Mariah Carey’s All I Want For Christmas is You on repeat, and drive around some of the most festive neighborhoods in LA.
See More Lights at the LA Zoo
The LA Zoo is merry and bright with thousands of lights, seasonal treats, and of course, animals this December. Santa might stop by on certain dates, so be sure to check out what all is happening on the date that you bought your ticket for.

Visit Santa’s Workshop at the Grove
Did you know that Santa’s workshop has a satellite office in the heart of the Grove? Take a break from shopping and admiring the lights to say hi to old Kris Kringle. Trust us – you can’t miss it!
Go to the Winter Holiday Festival
On December 8th and 9th, experience 60 tons of snow, photos with Santa, and free churros at the Winter Holiday Festival. This free event will also have a ferris wheel, DJ, and merry-go-round!
During the holiday season it’s great to reflect on the year and all the incredible things that LA offers for us. Why not spend a few hours giving back this December?
