Summer is here! If you’re a wine lover like me, you’ve got to try out these wines from New Zealand’s most awarded winery – the perfect pair for all your upcoming LA summer adventures. There’s something for everyone whether you are outdoorsy, a movie lover, or just want to chill – here are 13 things to do in LA this summer!
For the outdoorsy
LA is not known for its waterfalls, but they do exist! You just have to know where to look.
My favorites include Eaton Canyon and Sturtevant Falls, both under 4 miles roundtrip on the Eastside. You can also head to the Westside for Escondido Falls, or north to Paradise Falls.
When you get home, celebrate with a bottle of Villa Maria Bubbly! It’s perfect as an aperitif (before the meal), or paired with seafood. We’re very outdoorsy and pescatarian so we love it!
For the movie lover
LA is known for moviemaking and summer is all about the huge blockbusters. But this summer, change it up by checking out the following outdoor movie experiences:
Rooftop Cinema Club (ends 7/30) – A premier outdoor movie experience with panoramic views of Downtown L.A. from the rooftop terrace of LEVEL. Upcoming screenings include Out of Sight (July 3), Stand and Deliver (July 5), Mystic Pizza (July 6), The Breakfast Club (July 7), Scream (July 10), Memento (July 11), E.T. (July 12), The Lost Boys (July 13), Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom (July 14), The Post (July 17), The Royal Tenenbaums (July 18), and The Devil Wears Prada (July 19).
Street Food Cinema (ends 10/20) – These events take place in up to 14 different locations and is known as the largest outdoor movie series in Los Angeles. It features a wide range of films, gourmet food trucks and live music. Upcoming screenings include My Girl (July 7), E.T. (July 7), Romeo + Juliet (July 14), 500 Days of Summer (July 14) and more!
Eat See Hear (ends 9/8) – On Saturday nights at rotating venues, this is the largest outdoor screen on the West Coast and state-of-the-art audio. Every screening features a a line-up of food trucks and an opening performance by an up-and-coming band. Upcoming screenings include Rear Window (July 7),The Warriors (July 14), Blazing Saddles (July 28), Inglourious Basterds (Aug. 11), Back to the Future (Aug. 25), Selena (Sept. 1), and Boogie Nights (Sept. 8).
Relax when you get home by opening up a bottle of Villa Maria Sauvignon Blanc, perfect to pair with seafood and white meat. It features flavors of gooseberry, passionfruit, fresh citrus and herbaceous aromas. This is one of my absolute favorites!
For those who want to chill
If you’re not looking to get active, you can opt for a relaxing picnic at one of these iconic LA hotspots: Hollywood Bowl, Griffith Park, or the Getty.
When attending a concert at the Hollywood Bowl, bring a bottle of Villa Maria Rosé (when permitted) in your picnic basket! It features bright floral aromas with flavors of strawberry, red fruits and spice, with a delicious smooth finish.
For those who want to go off-the-beaten path, try out one of these less popular hidden gems: Vista Hermosa Park, Lake Hollywood Park, or Barnsdall Art Park.
