The Beachwood Drive gate is now permanently closed due to a recent court order. This was the easiest and most accessible route to the popular Hollywood Sign hike. Park users now have to find another way to get up there, but have no fear! There are plenty of other ways to get there and we’re here to help!
Here are the other ways to get to the Hollywood Sign instead of Beachwood Drive:
Canyon Drive at Bronson Canyon
This entrance is just east of Beachwood Drive but will be a little further away and will add some length to your hike, which is not necessarily a bad thing.
Wonderview Trailhead via the Wisdom Tree
You would start off of Lake Hollywood in the neighborhood and go to the Wisdom Tree first before crossing over to get to the Hollywood Sign.
Tree of Life Trail
You can catch this trail from Forest Lawn Drive. Once you hit the fork, you can head right to circle around the Wisdom Tree or stay to your left to go straight to the Hollywood Sign.
Griffith Observatory
From the Observatory, you’ll can pass by Dante’s view on the way up to the top of Mt. Hollywood. You can see the Hollywood Sign from here but you can also head to the actual sign using this trail.
Commonwealth Canyon
If you want to avoid the crowds at the Griffith Observatory, you can start on Commonwealth Canyon Drive and make you way up the east side of park.
Please note that you can only get near the back of the sign through these paths. Some of these are hiking trails or fire roads and have different lengths, so make sure your prepared with the right shoes, food and water and all other hiking essentials.
