April showers brings May flowers, and you know what else April brings? A lot of spectacular events and marvelous things to do for everyone to enjoy. Here are 16 awesome things to do in LA in April including an exciting way to celebrate International Pillow Fight Day, and no, it’s not an April Fools’ joke!
International Pillow Fight Day: April 1
A fun sleepover past-time is making its way to Pershing Square on April 1st. What better way to celebrate International Pillow Fight Day than by gathering your friends and having one epic pillow fight with a bunch of people in a park?! The event will take place from 2:00 – 5:00 PM, with the actual pillow fight starting at 2:30 PM. There will also be a DJ present and tons of food trucks, so it’s bound to be one good time!
LUNAFEST: Short Film Festival: April 1
Anytime there is an event that encourages women empowerment, we’re always ready to be there and show our support. Another awesome event to kick off the month of April is LUNAFEST, which is a short film festival that showcases films by, for, and about women. Not only is the event a great way to watch some excellent films that bring about a lot of girl power, but all of the proceeds from the film festival also benefits breast cancer research. The event is hosted by The Zonta Club of Burbank Area.
Welcome! A Fundraising Concert For The ACLU: April 3
Nothing says “It’s springtime!” than some incredible, spring concerts and the Welcome! A Fundraising Concert For The ACLU is definitely one that you must check out. The concert, which is benefitting the ACLU, was organized by the renowned and internationally-acclaimed DJ, Zedd. The line-up includes fan-favorite musicians such as Miguel, Camila Cabello, Macklemore, Bebe Rexha, Imagine Dragons, Skrillex and many more. The concert will take place at the Staples Center and you definitely won’t want to miss out on it.

Rooftop Cinema Club: April 5 – May 31
We all love going to the theater to watch a movie, but the Rooftop Cinema Club is about to make your movie-watching experience a whole lot more exciting. From April 5 – May 31st, attendees will be able to watch a series of blockbuster films right on the rooftop of the Ricardo Montalbán Theatre. You’ll be able to relax on the lawn chairs overlooking the beautiful LA scenery and even be able to snuggle up in a blanket, available upon request. Everyone will be given headphones so you can listen to the movie clearly and enjoy a one of a kind way to watch a film.
Monsterpalooza: April 7 – 9
Don’t be scared of the monster under your bed because they’re all coming out to play at Monsterpalooza! Monsters and movie lovers will have the chance to head on over to the Pasadena Convention Center for a fascinating three-day convention focusing in on the art of creating the scary monsters we all fear, live makeup demonstrations and more. There will be over 250 exhibitors at the event and even some celebrities will be popping in. It’s definitely going to be one spook-tacular time!
LA Beer Fest: April 8
A day trying unlimited, international and domestic beers? Sounds like a plan! The 9th annual LA Beer Fest will be taking place at the LA Center Studios. In addition to tasting all of the different kinds of beers available, there will also be a lot of food trucks present for you to dine will you drink up as well as live music for you to jam out to. There will be two sessions taking place that day – one from noon to 3pm and another session from 5pm to 8pm. All of the proceeds from the event will benefit Noah’s B-ark, which helps to find loving homes for rescued pets.
Food Truck Fetish Festival: April 8 – 9
The name says it all! We admit to having a fetish for food trucks and now we get to celebrate our love and being the ultimate #Foodie with this magnificent event. Over 100 food trucks will be present, so you’ll be able to get a taste of everything and anything that your heart (or shall we say stomach) desires. Plus, part of the proceeds will help benefit two organizations, Love Mission and Sistahs in Sync to help put an end to hunger in the Los Angeles area.
When We Were Young Concert: April 8 – 9
Do you love musicians such as Morrissey, Cage The Elephant, Descendants, and many more? Well, they will all be performing under the same roof on April 8th and 9th for the “When We Were Young” concert. The awesome music festival brings together musicians and groups from the 90’s and all of the rock and punk music we love listening to. The concert will be held at The Observatory Orange County.

Coachella: April 14 – 16 and April 21 – 23
One event that has been the trending topic since January is Coachella, the renowned music festival that every celebrity on this planet attends. Coachella is known for having the greatest lineup with the biggest musical acts out. This year, Radiohead and Kendrick Lamar will be headlining as well as Lady Gaga, who took over after Beyonce announced she was unable to headline Coachella due to her pregnancy. Taking place in Indio, California, Coachella has attendees showcasing their uber chic festival attire.
The Original Renaissance Pleasure Faire: April 15
It’s time to take a trip back to the time of the Renaissance with the fun-filled Original Renaissance Pleasure Faire. You’ll get to feel what life was like back in the Renaissance with knights walking right next to you. There will be food, outstanding activities, live entertainment, and opportunities to purchase some memorabilia including hand-blown glass items, poetry, and more.
Pershing Square Egg Hunt: April 15
The Easter season is officially here! Get in the Easter spirit a day in advance by going to Pershing Square’s Easter Egg Hunt in Downtown Los Angeles. The celebration, which will take place from 12pm – 4pm will include an Easter egg hunt, poetry, arts and crafts, and more wonderful activities for kids and the whole family to enjoy. Plus, the event is free, so it’s definitely a fabulous way to enjoy the Easter holiday.
Downtown LA Easter Fest: April 16
Easter is always a marvelous holiday to celebrate with family and friends. New City Church is inviting everyone to join them for a wonderful Easter celebration from 2pm – 5pm for an Easter egg hunt, a bounce house, face painting, and more phenomenal activities. Admission is $5 per person, $20 per family (maximum of 7 people), and children 2 and under enter for free.
Caviar 301: April 20
Have a well spent April night by enjoying Caviar 301’s caviar tasting. At this event, you’ll be able to taste a variety of the most expensive caviars as well as be able to have a scrumptious caviar dinner. Needless to say, it’ll be one elegant dinner at the Petrossian in West Hollywood.

Earth Day: April 22
There are so many ways to celebrate Earth Day, first and foremost, by doing positive things that can show our appreciate towards the planet we live in. There are a lot of things to do in LA on Earth Day, one of them being the Los Angeles Sanitation’s Earth Day event at Exposition Park. The event will give kids an interesting experience of exploring the sanitation trucks and seeing many exhibits at the event. Admission to the event is free and the event will also have food, games, and more fun ways to learn more about sustainability for the planet we live in.
Dapper Day At Disneyland: April 22 – 23
Who doesn’t like to get all dressed up and look oh, so dapper? Well, you’ll be able to do so and see others in their greatest get-ups during Dapper Day at Disneyland. The two day event will take place on April 22nd and 23rd. The event will start off with an expo at the Disneyland Hotel on Saturday and a meet-up at the Disneyland Park on Sunday. It’s such a unique way to experience the Happiest Place on Earth, so get ready to get all of your vintage gear out as it’s time to hob nob with Mickey and Minnie during Dapper Day at Disneyland.
