When we learned about Three Day Rule at an event, we realized that so many single LA girls could use this service. We hear countless complaints of horrific online dating experiences and wonder if there is a real solution.
With Valentine’s Day coming up, we wanted to talk to the Talia Goldstein, matchmaker and founder of Three Day Rule to learn more about matchmaking and also to give our single ladies some great dating tips!
CEO and founder of Three Day Rule, Talia Goldstein, has been featured on Good Morning America, Fortune, USA Today, Los Angeles Times, and The Huffington Post. While working as a TV producer at E! True Hollywood Story in 2012, she quickly became the resident dating expert, and recognizing her hidden talent, began offering matchmaking services and hosting popular singles events.
Leveraging Talia’s extensive network of successful, attractive singles, Three Day Rule was born. She and her team have since found matches for thousands of clients, including top executives, entrepreneurs and celebrities. Talia is thrilled that her work allows her to make a difference in people’s lives by helping them find true love. She lives in Los Angeles with her husband and two children.

What brought you to LA?
I grew up in Orange County. After college at Tulane University, I moved to LA with a friend that went to USC. I landed a job in advertising so I stayed in the city.
What’s your favorite thing about LA?
I love how interesting the people are here. Everyone has a unique, fascinating story about their upbringing or what brought them here. It’s part of the reason why I love matchmaking so much — I am always learning about people from diverse backgrounds everyday.
What has been your favorite LA experience?
I have had so many “LA” experiences, especially having worked in entertainment for years. One experience that caught me off-guard was when I was finally starstruck by a celebrity.
I was in front of the Sofitel and I saw Jemaine Clement from Flight of the Concords. I walked up to him and said, “I love you” about 100 times and then gave him my business card and told him to call me. It was quite embarrassing, but totally made my year.
Everyone says they hate the LA dating scene, what are your top 3 tips for those looking to meet Ms./Mr. Right?
1) Be more open-minded.
People in LA are very image-focused and are sometimes looking for the wrong things in a partner. Of course you have to be attracted to the person you are dating, but do you really need perfect teeth and broad shoulders? That probably won’t matter much in 50 years. Singles need to focus on what’s really important, like finding someone who is kind, makes you laugh, and adores you, etc.
2) Talk to people IRL.
Everyone is looking down at their phones all the time! Look up and chat with someone in line while grabbing coffee or strike up a conversation with someone at a yoga class. Channel your outgoing personality so you can make connections in real life.
3) Give someone a second shot.
Don’t judge too quickly on dates. If you think your date is remotely attractive and they seem like a nice person, go out again. They might surprise you on date two. There are many reasons why someone may not have been their best on a first date – maybe they had a rough day at work or were really nervous. I know so many happy couples who had a rough start.
What makes Three Day Rule different from any other matchmaking company in LA?
We are a national matchmaking company (launching our 9th city in February) and are proud to have the country’s largest matchmaking database. Our matchmakers came from impressive corporate backgrounds, but realized that their true passion is connecting people and helping singles find lasting love. They are warm, inquisitive, outgoing, and demonstrate relentless dedication to their roles as matchmakers.
What can you say to those who are hesitant to try a matchmaking company?
You have absolutely nothing to lose by signing up because you can join our database for free and potentially be matched with one of our amazing clients. It’s confidential, it’s fun, and it could be game changing.
If you’re looking for a more personalized approach, you can become a paid member and work with one of matchmakers, who will hand-select and vet the best matches for you. It could be the best investment that you’ve ever made!
No Valentine? No problem! It’s a new year, and we’ve all got a clean slate. Let the Three Day Rule matchmakers be your personal cupid as they take over The Viceroy Hotel in Santa Monica for a massive pre-Valentine’s bash!
