New Year, New Hair: The Best Hair Trends for 2025

We often hear “new year, new me” thrown around at the start of the new year. While trying to transform into a new person is exhausting, it can be fun to make subtle changes. A new hairstyle is one of the best and easiest ways to feel brand new! Here are some of the hottest hair trends for 2025 if you want to start the new year with a new ‘do.

1 – Retro Volume

2025 is all about the voluminous hair you saw on the glam icons of the 60s and 70s (think Brigitte Bardot). This style has already been taking over Hollywood. Nicole Kidman, Zendaya, and Selena Gomez all rocked gorgeous retro volume styles on the Golden Globes Red Carpet. This look can be achieved with a blowout, teasing, or an insert that creates volume (a la a bump-it).

2 – Curtain Bangs

Curtain bangs have been making their way back onto the scene for a couple of years now. But, Sabrina Carpenter’s iconic ‘do solidified it as a must-have hairstyle. They give a fun and flirty look to any look and can be worn straight or curly, depending on your mood. Curtain bangs also have a retro feel, similar to the retro volume styles trending this year.

3 – Tres Chic Bob

According to Bazaar, “the French Girl bob” will dominate the 2025 hair trends. If you want a more dramatic change and are ready to make a big chop, this is a chic and feminine way to do it. Bazaar highlighted Emily in Paris star Lily Collins’ bob, and we can’t help but say “Ooh la la!”

4 – Side Parts

Side Parts are back in our good graces after being dubbed “cheugy” by Gen Z a few years ago. According to Vogue, we can expect to see a lot of side parts and side-swept hairstyles this year. Side parts were also popular among 2025 Golden Globe attendees like Selena Gomez, Dakota Fanning, and Anya Taylor Joy.

5 – Layers

Layers are another fun way to shake up your look without being too drastic. Vogue suggests cutting layers that frame your face (like Jennifer Aniston’s). Allure recommends keeping your layers long for a hot look that doesn’t require too much maintenance. Either way, we’re loving it!
