How To Get To Sports Games in LA

You probably know that LA is nearly as famous for traffic as it is for fabulous live sporting events and the magic of Hollywood. However, you can ease congestion headaches by using public transportation whenever possible. Metro Rail is one of the largest public transportation hubs by ridership. It consists of four above-ground light rail tracks and two underground subways. Its base fare of $1.75 covers up to two hours of one-way travel as long as you tap the final transfer within the allotted window. You can also invest in day and 30-day passes. Metro Bus offers 2,308 buses with nearly 14,000 stops around the greater Los Angeles area. It also has a base fare of $1.75, or you can purchase renewable TAP cards for $20. Metro bike share is available Downtown, the port of L.A., Mid-City and Westside. Get your workout commuting to the game, then kick back with a brewski and enjoy the show. Finally, LA has tons of ride-share and taxi options, making it a cinch for folks without a car to reach their favorite sporting venue.

Play The Game

As much as we love watching an awesome sports game in LA, its just as fun to get involved and play. There’s nothing like a competitive spirit and we found some LA clubs and areas to get involved.

1. Biking Clubs: While you might think of biking as a solo activity, it’s also a popular group sporting event in L.A. Riding provides multiple health benefits, such as toning your hamstrings and building your quads, and heading out with the gang offers safety in numbers — and a way to get help if you pop a tire. There are two clubs we found that are pretty awesome. First, the  Los Angeles Bicycle Club. They are worth following on Facebook to find out about upcoming planned rides where you can meet others who share your passion. Also, The San Fernando Valley Bicycle Club offers various great rides every Saturday and Sunday.

2. Running Clubs: Solo running can be a mindful activity as you focus on nothing more than your steady breath and pounding feet. However, doing it with a group offers the same benefits as biking together when going the distance — and you can expand your circle of friends. Cheer one another on by joining one of these area running clubs. We love Social Hour Run Club. They meet in Orange County, where you can join one of three weekly excursions. Pacer Nation has various locations throughout LA and caters to runners of all levels. Blacklist LA combines running with street art, letting your feet take you to a different cultural hotspot each week.

3. Specialty Leagues: What if you want a slightly more offbeat sporting event in LA? Los Angeles lives up to its stellar sports reputation with clubs for nearly any physical activity you can imagine. First up, there is the growing LA favorite, Pickleball. You can play this sport on a converted tennis court, greatly expanding your practice area. The LA Pickle Club includes round-robin tournament play and a chance to go on the road to various exciting locations. Those hoping to strike a path to better fitness can try bowling. They can register their league at either the Mar Vista or Hollywood Zogsport locations. Forming a league is a fabulous team-building activity for work groups. Golf with the Los Angeles Golf Club for tournament events or initial lessons. The Los Angeles Tennis Club is the first private equity club in LA and lets you enjoy a match or take a clinic nearly any time you wish. Roller derby remains as alive and well as your favorite classic disco tune. The RebelTown Rollers prepares skaters from novice to expert for competition and offers loaner gear for beginners. Basketball: For those who want to go beyond playground pickup, the LA runs two seasons per year with a men’s and women’s division.

If you’re lookng to improve your swing – try golfing at the deserts premiere grounds here in Indian Wells.
