Yup, the stars are about to give us one heck of a fashion show, as they step out in this seasons trendiest gowns and tuxes. Get ready, because as we all know (yeah, even Chris Rock and Will Smith) anything can happen during the Oscars. So we’re breaking down everything you need to know about the biggest award show of the year.

Who is Hosting the Oscars?
Jimmy Kimmel is making his return to host the Oscars for a 3rd time. We can expect lots of comic relief and a little improv from the late night host.
Who is Nominated for an Oscar?
There are 10 films vying for the top prize of Best Picture. Some of the frontrunners include the award show darling “Everything Everywhere All at Once” starring Best Actress nominee Michelle Yeoh, Best Supporting Actress nominee Jamie Lee Curtis, and Best Supporting Actor nominee Ke Huy Quan (you remember him, child star from “The Goonies”). The indie smash hit will have some tough competition against favorite films like “Elvis”, which is up for Best Costume Design, Best cinematography, and Best Actor (fingers are crossed for Austin Butler to take home gold). Other films nominated include “All Quiet on the Western Front”, “The Fablemans”, “Top Gun: Maverick” and “Women Talking.”
Pro tip: If you want to watch some of these films on the big screen before they’re up for the big prize, you can watch them at the Rooftop Cinema Club in the Arts District from March 5-9th, or you can watch every nominated film at Regal Cinemas for $6. They’re having a Best Picture Film Festival from March 3-12th.
Who is Presenting at the Oscars?
Along with the A-list nominees, there will be A-list celebs on hand to present the awards. Past Oscar winners like Ariana Debose, Questlove, Riz Ahmed and Troy Kotsur will be back to present. We also hear Dwayne Johnson, Emily Blunt, Melissa McCarthy, Michael B Jordan, Janelle Monae and Zoe Saldana will be on stage to present awards too. And just an FYI: 2022’s Best Actor Winner, Will Smith, will not be back to present. Since his slap heard around the world at last year’s show, the Academy has permitted him from attending the event.
Who is Performing at the Oscars?
One name: Rihanna! Yes, this years Superbowl Performance Queen will be at the show to sing her song “Lift Me Up” from the film “Black Panther: Wakanda Forever.” And yes, we can’t wait to see what this mama will be wearing…speaking of fashion?
What is Everyone Wearing at the Oscars?
Here’s what we know, this red carpet is going to be far from your typical LBD’s (little black dresses). Here are our Oscar Fashion predictions! On the red carpet, there will be bold colors, asymmetric hemlines, more split bodices and maybe a re-wear (we hope!). Host Jimmy Kimmel said he plans to wear a custom Tom Ford tux. As for the ladies, we’re thinking Best Actress nominee Michelle Williams will either wow us In Dior or Valentino. Cate Blanchett, who is nominated for her role in “Tár” , has been on a re-wearing streak, and fingers crossed we see her back in this backless John Paul Gaultier dress from 2000.
“Blonde” Best Actress nominee Ana De Armas has been crushing awards season in nothing but Louis Vuitton, our guess is that she’ll get something custom made from the Spring/Summer 2023 line.
Best Supporting Actress nominee for “Wakanda Forever”, Anglea Bassett, has been keeping us on our toes when it comes to her red carpet looks. She’s worn every designer, from Christian Siriano to Pamella Roland and even Giambattista Valli, but we can guarantee she will step out in a gown thats bold, beautiful and will take our breath away. No pressure right?
