Actors celebrating actors. It’s what the Screen Actors Guild Awards is all about. After all, it’s the ONLY show to exclusively honor the craft and it’s the ONLY show in LA that truly is an all out party from beginning to end. This year, the show was held at the luxurious Fairmont Century Plaza in Century City and rolled out a red carpet fit for Hollywood’s A-list. And WOW the stars of our favorite films and TV shows really brought the glitz and the glam. Here are some of our red carpet fashion favorites from the SAG Awards.
IT Girls of Fashion
Fashion’s favorite it-girl Zendaya brought one of the biggest trends of 2023 to the carpet: rosettes. Her blush Valentino gown paired beautifully with her short bouncy curls too. And in true Zendaya form, she surprised us all when the Euphoria star swapped her dramatic pink gown for a chic romantic pink and black number. Speaking of a super cool black dress, let’s talk about fashion’s next trendsetter, Jenna Ortega. She walked the carpet in an archived black Atelier Versace Dress ( a gown first seen on a 1994 runway). We loved the asymmetric vibes of both the bodice and the skirt. Yup Wednesday Adams would totally approve of this. LA girl native & Emily in Paris star Ashley Park was très chic in Elie Saab Couture. The gown was bejeweled all the way down to the high thigh slit and featured this season’s biggest trend: a cape. But here’s what we really loved, her shoes totally affordable for any LA girl. They were Steve Madden’s Darla Platforms and are under $140.
Oscar Winning Style
These Oscar winners and past nominees know how to make a high fashion statement on the carpet. Cate Blanchett (who has won two Oscars) is always a front runner when it comes to being the best dressed. For the SAG Awards, she opted for a sequined, liquid looking, split bodice gown by Armani Prive. We particularly loved the lace detail layered under the dress’s halter straps. Westside Story’s Ariana DeBose (and one of the coolest Latina’s on the block) brought the heat in a hot pink Prabal Gurung suit. A daring choice with a long line blazer and floor length flares. Amanda Seyfried was funky in this kelly green nod to the 60’s. Her Prada mini-gown was even flirtier with a long train.
Design Details
When it comes to pulling off a red carpet look, it’s all in the details. Julia Garner, whose character Ruth from Ozark is far from wearing couture in the show, made a fiery and luxe fashion statement in Gucci. We loved the dress’s siren vibes with a seashell bustier and sparkling fish net top. The White Lotus’s young breakout starlet – Haley Lu Richardson – made a glamorous splash in a pearl encrusted Carolina Herrera dress that dripped from top to bottom in a sea of gems. Cara Delevingne totally pushed red carpet limits with her black Carolina Herrera jumpsuit. And this wasn’t just any jumpsuit. Her red carpet look was stylish with a deep neckline, rosette details, gathered skirt, and long sleeves.
Sunshine Favorites
After LA’s long rainy weekend, it was especially bright to see Wakanda Forever’s Queen, Anglea Bassett, in sunny yellow tulle from Giambattista Valli Couture. The Crown’s Claire Foy showed off a regal look in a plunging Prada gown. And Viola Davis was a ray of radiant sunshine in a floor length Valentino dress and matching clutch.
