Whitney English - Featured

I first met Whitney at a fitness blogger event and I couldn’t help but notice how good she looked while she was working out, not many people have that talent. I got to know her in the last few months and was happy to know that she wasn’t just a pretty face and a nice looking stomach, but also a wonderful person. I want to introduce you to my friend, Whitney English.

Whitney English is a former entertainment journalist turned lifestyle blogger, and the voice behind the health and fitness site, To Live & Diet in L.A. She is a Certified Personal Trainer with the National Academy of Sports Medicine and is currently enrolled in a Coordinated Masters Degree Program in Nutrition at the University of Southern California, with the goal of becoming a Registered Dietitian Nutritionist. Whitney’s work has been featured on outlets like E! News, MSN.com, SheKnows, FabFitFun, PopSugar, The Huffington Post, Shape, Buzzfeed, and many more.

Where are you from?

Tucson, AZ

What brought you to LA?

I moved to LA after college to become an entertainment reporter. My first job was working behind the scenes at E! News, covering red carpets and hollywood events. It was a lot of fun!

What’s your favorite thing about LA?

I love that LA has something to offer everyone. From the mountains to the beach to the food scene to the arts – there’s always something new and exciting to try!

What about LA inspires you?

The creativity and ambition shared by the majority of people who live here. LA is a conglomeration of passionate people seeking to make their mark on the world. I’m constantly inspired by the vision and work ethic of the entrepreneurs and leaders here in LA, in so many different fields.

Where’s your favorite restaurant in LA?

That’s a tough one! I have so many. Cafe Gratitude on Larchmont for creative vegan food, Murakami on Melrose for sushi, Terroni for Italian, and La Escuela for Mexican.

What has been your favorite LA experience?

Lazy summer days in Santa Monica – playing beach volleyball, biking along the boardwalk, or grabbing a bite on Abbott Kinney. That, and interviewing Jennifer Aniston #girlcrush 🙂

Do you have any advice for people new to LA?

It’s easy to stay in your one-mile radius, but try to branch out and explore other parts of the city. From Downtown to Silver Lake to deep Malibu, there are endless cool spots to check out. And try to take weekend trips too – we have so many cool little towns and outdoor areas that are only about 2 hours away: Joshua Tree, Paso Robles/Santa Barbara, Palm Springs, Temecula – every direction you turn there’s a place to explore!

Where is your favorite place to workout in LA?

When I first moved here I loved to go to Runyon Canyon. It’s a great little hiking spot, with tons of adorable dogs, and they have free yoga every day. It may be a little cliche, but I think it’s a must do/see for anyone who’s visiting or just moved here. Now my favorite workouts are Aura Yoga, Fitmix pilates, Training Mate, and Playlist Yoga.

If LA was a healthy snack, what would the recipe be?

6 parts sunshine, 4 parts sea salt, 3 cups of green juice, 2 beach cruiser wheels, 1 breezy maxi dress + a wide brimmed fedora.
