All About LA Events Guide to LA New to LA

Your Guide To LA’s Top Trivia Nights

We all have that one friend who never fails to impress us with their ability to spout off fascinating yet obscure facts about everything from “The Simpsons” and 90’s sitcoms, to space and history. Perhaps that friend is even you, always finding a way to steer the conversation back to an episode of “The Golden Girls.” If this sounds like you, then it’s time to gather your fellow trivia enthusiasts and head to a trivia night in LA! Right away, we turned to Geeks Who Drink, the nationwide leader in bar trivia since 2006. GWD has about 2 dozen venues that host  events in LA from Sunday – Thursday, so be sure to check out all their offerings. BTW trivia nights are a fantastic way to put your knowledge to the test while having fun and (possibly) win prizes. They also offer a great opportunity to socialize and meet new people (you’re welcome LA newbies) , all while avoiding the monotony of standing around at a bar. Don’t worry if you don’t have a team yet, many events allow individuals to join a team on the spot, and organizers are always eager to help. Check out some of our favorite events and put your knowledge to the test at these Trivia Nights in Los Angeles.

Bigfoot Lodge (East)

Wednesdays @ 9 pm

Location: 3172 Los Feliz Blvd, Los Angeles

First up on the Geeks Who Drink trivia list is Bigfoot Lodge in Los Feliz. Hike your way on over to this one-of-a-kind bar, and the ambiance and decor will really make you feel like you’re deep in the woods preparing for a remote Sasquatch sighting. For their free trivia on Wednesdays, bring a team (up to 6) or you can join one at the bar. Expect 60-ish questions over 2 hours, and give your best to win free pints and other prizes. At the very least, you will tap into your more primal side and get some good post-worthy photos. If you are on the Westside and coming over to Los Feliz seems even more daunting than spotting Bigfoot himself, check out Bigfoot Lodge West for their trivia night on Tuesdays at 9 pm.

Nostalgia Bar and Lounge

Wednesdays @ 7pm

Location: 1326 Pico Blvd, Santa Monica

Geeks Who Drink hosts a lively trivia night on the Westside at Nostalgia Bar and Lounge that draws a fun-loving crowd to a venue with a familiar yet whimsically mature menu and ambiance. While testing your knowledge in multiple categories, you can enjoy menu items that take you back to childhood but are far from cafeteria food, like the Kobe burger and $3 happy hour oysters.

O’Brien’s Irish Pub

Every Mon, Tues, and Wed at 8 pm

Location: 2226 Wilshire Blvd., Santa Monica

This Irish pub and restaurant in Santa Monica is known for having one of the best patios in town to watch both sports and other people, and they are also home to the longest-running pub quiz in the LA area (since 1998). The schedule for their weekly trivia nights suits people of all levels of knowledge. Monday’s are general trivia and music, Tuesday’s are the Brits in LA with a comedic British theme, and Wednesday is an ex-Jeopardy Alumni Quiz where you can test your knowledge against the best in the country.

33 Taps

Wednesdays @ 8 pm

Location: 3725 Sunset Blvd, Los Angeles

Tucked away in Silverlake, 33 Taps is a neighborhood gem thats offers more than just your typical sports bar experience. From savory dishes to lively camaraderie, it’s the perfect place to unwind and engage in some wholesome competition with King Trivia. Get ready to put your knowledge to the test while enjoying mouth-watering food and the company of friendly locals. With team names like The Chia Pets, Baddies of Silverlake, and reigning champions, Hawaiian Mountain Chickens, the competition is fierce and the fun is endless. And the best part? You could walk away with some extra cash in your pocket – 1st place takes home a cool $50, with $25 and $10 for second and third place respectively.

Stache

Thursdays at 7 pm

Location: 8941 Santa Monica Blvd, West Hollywood

Stache is the sister bar to 33 Taps and is located right in the heart of West Hollywood. Paying homage to the hidden spaces once frequented by the LGBTQ+ community, Stache’s industrial interior is reminiscent of those underground histories. The bar fuses nostalgia with a future-forward present to create an all-inclusive social clubhouse vibe for trivia night, and everyone from beginners to trivia enthusiasts will feel welcome here. Trivia starts at 7 pm on Thursdays but get there earlier for the great happy hour.

Barney’s Beanery

Tuesdays @ 9 pm

Location: West Hollywood, Pasadena, Westwood, and Burbank

If you’re looking for a night of brain-teasing fun with a chance to win big, Barney’s Beanery Trivia, hosted also by King Trivia, is the place to be. While Barney’s has multiple locations across WeHo, Pasadena, Westwood, and Burbank, each venue offers a unique trivia experience so make sure to double-check dates and times with your specific location before heading out. Get ready to geek out and celebrate your favorite fandoms with themed trivia nights, so perfect for Star Wars or comic book fans.

The Alamo Drafthouse

Wednesdays at 8 pm

Location: 700 W. 7th Street, Los Angeles

The Alamo chain offers more than just movie screenings, as they excel in hosting special events like trivia nights. Our fave pick is Protected Under Parody, a monthly gathering of comedian movie buffs at the Video Vortex theater where they parody, pay homage, and geek out over beloved films. The free event features sketches, stand-up comedy, game shows, trivia, prizes, and even puppets. This month’s theme is the 90s classic, Spice World so pick your favorite spice girl to represent and shimmy on over.

Trivia Night @ Truly LA

Varies, check calendar.

Location: 216 S. Alameda St., Los Angeles CA 90012

In partnership with LA Trivia, Truly LA typically hosts trivia nights 2x a month from 7-9p at their super swanky venue in DTLA. Every trivia night has a theme and the Truly LA team creates food and drink specials to complement the theme. It’s free to play, and top teams all get prizes. Upcoming Trivia nights include Bob’s Burgers Trivia (5/24), Broadway Musicals (6/7), and the Ultimate Trivia Championship (6/22). This option is great for those who may want more than just a typical beer and bar food out of their trivia night. We love their “Trulixirs” and the options for Seltzers and Truly cans on tap. Truly LA also has an elevated menu with affordable prices, and we love the honey-orange chicken wings or the candied bacon bites.
