The 5 Most Haunted Spots in LA

Haunted Spots in LA

Call me high maintenance, but these cheesy haunted houses just aren’t cutting it for me anymore. Forget an actor in a mask, I want an ACTUAL ghost to scare me! Luckily, Los Angeles is not only the home of Hollywood, but creepy AF haunted buildings as well. Here are some of the most haunted spots in LA to get scared at…if you dare.

Hollywood Roosevelt

Rumor has it that Marilyn Monroe still roams the halls of this classic LA hotel. An apparition of a girl in a blue dress has been spotted along with the classic adult Marilyn we know in her old room – 1200. Headed down a few floors? The ghost of Montgomery Clift has been known to pat guests on the shoulder, while Carole Lombard haunts the upper floors.

The Hollywood Sign

Hollywood actress Peg Entwistle struggled to break out from her ingénue typecast during her working years in the late 1920s. In 1932, a hiker discovered her body at the base of a ravine near the sign. Local authorities determined that she had climbed to the top of the “H” and jumped to her death. There have been sightings of a woman in 30s clothing near the Hollywood Sign and even apparitions of her jump.

Queen Mary

Sure, the Queen Mary leans into the cheesy “haunted” side of their story, but it turns out this ship is crawling with poltergeists. Voted one of the Top 10 Most Haunted Places in America by Time magazine, the Queen Mary offers ghost tours of the haunted rooms and ship decks.

Cecil Hotel

The Cecil Hotel has such a rich history of tragedy that it inspired an entire season of American Horror Story. From numerous suicides by guests throughout the years to a bizarre death that ended up with the body of Elisa Lam floating in the water supply tank on the roof. The hotel is currently undergoing renovations – hopefully they will burn a lot of sage!

The Comedy Store

Mob hotspot of the forties and fifties, The Comedy Store, formerly Ciro’s, was no stranger to shootouts in the street and seedy business transactions in the basement. You can even take tours of the haunted basement!
