LatinaFest: The Inside Scoop on this Latinx Event

What?

This week, The LA Girl had the opportunity to be a community partner for LATINAFest, located in the heart of La Plaza de Cultura y Artes. LATINAFest, founded by Bel Hernandez and Naibe Reynoso, is an event highlighting and celebrate everything Lantina including speakers, businesses, libations, and incredible music. There were food trucks, fashion shows, live mariachis, dance lessons, and a Bachata dance off. This event was jammed pack with cool features and notable guests. Sponsored by Chase Bank, McDonalds, ABC 7Union Bank, and many others, it was truly the highlight this October. Powerful women, like Editor in Chief Erika De La Cruz, alongside ABC 7’s Jessica Dominguez and Media Personality’s Cece ValenciaYesi Ortiz kickstarted and kept the festivities running on the main stage all day long, while DJ Royelle made sure there was no short supply of salsa, cumbia and hits to keep guests on their feet.

Who?

LATINAFest hosted incredible speakers like, international best selling author of #Values, Dr. Betty Uribe, and LA Mayor’s candidate, Kevin de Leon. They shared their personal and incredible stories. Kevin touched on the history of Los Angeles as a Mexican town budding years ago, beneath our own feet. “Dr. Betty Uribe told a personal story about how she came to this country with nothing to her name but worked hard to eventually become an Executive Vice President of California Bank and Trust. She inspired Latinas to be proud of their roots and through example, showed that every Latina can achieve their dreams. She talked about the importance of values and how it is the secret to her success in her personal and business life.” –Kenny Gradilla, Digital Content and Communication Lead at The LA Girl.

Why?

The vendors & pop-ups at LATINAFest were diverse and incredible. We truly shopped till we dropped going from booth to booth. There were companies from hair-care to fashion, to beauty and health/wellness. Getting to know the different Latina business women, and their personal background and stories was a great learning experience. It is important to support your community, and this was the perfect opportunity to come and support our Latina sisters. We are counting down the days until next LATINAFest and now have a running list of business options to visit around town. Stay tuned for a complete round up, so you can support them too. Shout out to Los Angelitos Bakery, recipient of this year’s Festival Hero Women Rising, Power-Up Grant.
