All About LA Guide to LA New to LA Travel

Grammy Museum Review – Los Angeles Hidden Gem

Best Kept Secret In Town?

We think so. Beyonce, Lady Gaga, Taylor Swift, Megan Thee Stallion: They all await you in Downtown Los Angeles. Well, their legacies, Grammy’s acceptance speeches & most of their red carpet looks do anyway. With authentic red-carpet photo ops, tons of music history and wait for it…. some of the most reasonable pricing in town ($10-$15 per ticket,) the GRAMMY Museum is this month’s Must-Visit. Here are a few more reasons we think so:

Logistics Make for a Fabulous Day Out

The Museum opens street-front and is easy to find and easy to access. **Parking Pro tip: opt for one of the nearby lots around L.A. Live. Some are as low as $5, especially on non-game days. The stunning architecture towers between the buildings surrounding L.A. Live, which some call “the most entertaining place on the planet” and will instantly put you in an NYC state of mind if that’s what you’re looking for. Great restaurants are on every corner, making it easy to grab lunch or dinner with friends.

4 Floors of Content Heaven

We all know what it’s like to take a photo on a cheap step and repeat to commemorate a trip you’re taking- trying to make sure you can’t see the bottom of the cement in the photo or the wall on top. Fear no more, the GRAMMY Museum is what we would venture to call: The best photo wall in Los Angeles, or permanently placed step and repeat, that is. From the floor to the ceilings, the red carpet, moldings and Recording Academy logo’s are lush and will have your gram photos looking like a million bucks! **Insider Scoop: the moldings used are from the ACTUAL Awards red carpet. The activations and displays range from Dave Matthews, to Motown and feature videos and dancing opportunities to “story” the entire adventure with your friends or family.

Stay tuned on our Editor in Chief’s instagram to find out just how content-worthy their On The Red Carpet exhibit is and how she transitioned from business casual into this red carpet look in one visit. Interactive rooms like a sound proof booth showcasing what your favorite grammy performances would have sounded like from the 1880’s all the way to 2021 will have your moving your body to whatever song you choose. The entire LA Girl team broke into dance during our tour and let’s just say our choice of Ricky Martin felt more like a club than a museum when the surround-sound hit. (Great place to take your girls on a ladies-day-out.)

It’s Inspiration Nation

As mentioned, The LA Girl team took a tour of this four story venue and we can not say enough good things about how it made us feel. The minute you visit yourself, as a stay-cation or with guests, the music & award show will hold a special place in your heart. Upon arrival, guests are taken to the 4th floor where the elevator doors open to a foyer filled with icons from Will Smith to Mary J. Blige giving their acceptance speeches. We lingered for at least 15 minutes watching the walls transition from speech to speech. Actual awards line the center of the room to form a column displaying the history and evolution of the statue. Part of the magic in the museum is that actual artists go there every day: Marshmello & Nas are due to have conversations in the museum’s 200 person theater this month, forwarding education through music with The Recording Academy. Ticket purchases forward this mission too.

Outfits

We don’t think we need to elaborate further. Some of fashion’s most iconic moments have come from The Grammy’s red carpet, so it’s fitting that one of their highlights is called the On The Red Carpet exhibit, displaying some of the most iconic award-show-wear in history. Perfect for The LA Girl who’s excited by looks, inspired by Hollywood glamour or could use an escape into the world of red carpet glitz. Grab your tickets to the GRAMMY Museum today and we’ll see you there. *Photos courtesy of Daniel Curtis Photography.
