The Most Delicious Female-Owned Restaurants in LA

Here at The LA Girl we believe in supporting women every day. But it doesn’t hurt to show our lovely ladies some extra love during Women’s History Month. So we wanted to shed some spotlight awesomeness on some female owned restaurants that are absolutely winning the culinary game here in Los Angeles. Get ready to book some resy’s at our top five favorite restaurants owned and operated by women. 

Met Him at a Bar 

Location: 801 S. La Brea Ave.

Met Him at a Bar is a charming Italian joint in the mid-wilshire area with the cutest backstory! Owner Mindy Voranartsomdee opened the restaurant as a sister restaurant to Met Her at a Bar, which is right across the street. Both of the restaurants’ names pay tribute to how Vorantartsomdee met her husband and business partner, Vincent Kinne, yeah you guessed it, it was in a bar…so cute. But on top of that, he food is to die for. Order their rigatoni vodka, you’ll be happy you did. FYI: don’t forget to add burrata, it literally is the cheesy cherry on top.

Casa Vega 

Location: 13301 Ventura Blvd.

Casa Vega down in Sherman Oaks is a restaurant that Is super rich in LA history. It was opened in 1956 by Rafael Vega, but now, it’s owned and operated by his daughter Christy Vega, who’s been working at the restaurant since day one. You’ll love the vibrant atmosphere, as well as the delicious Mexican food. From tamales to esquites, to enchiladas and even Mexican Pizza (Taco Bell’s has nothing on it, just saying), you’ll find your south of the border faves here. Plus, the most important menu item of all: margaritas! There are plenty to choose from.

Girl & The Goat 

Location: 555-3 Matteo St.

Girl & The Goat in Downtown LA is owned by accomplished restauranteur and chef, Stephanie Izard. Izard combines global dishes and flavors with California produce to craft a fresh menu suitable for all foodie angelenos . Her mix of flavors are unmatched and standout the most in her grilled corn, sticky glazed pork shank, and grilled whole branzino.

The Milky Way 

Location: 9108 W. Pico Blvd.

The Milky Way is an iconic New American Kosher restaurant near Pico and Robertson that was owned by the late Leah Adler (who just so happens to be Steven Spielberg’s mother). Her spirit continues to live on through the inspired menu that offers pasta, seafood, salads, and sandwiches. They also offer special brunch items on Sunday.

Jitlada 

Location: 5333 1/2 W Sunset Blvd.

Jitlada in Thai Town is the best spot to hit up if you’re in the mood for some authentic Southern Thai food.  Owner and chef Sarin “Jazz” Sing brings family recipes to the table, along with popular favorites, like Pad Thai. Restaurant locals even think of Chef Jazz as their LA Mom. Well…here’s why. Jitlada’s spicy delicious menu and atmosphere will make you feel like you’re having Tuesday night dinner at moms. It’s that authentic and that comforting.
