You don’t have to go to Napa or Santa Barbara to enjoy the best curated California wines, thanks to this convenient and cozy spot located right in the heart of Burbank. Urban Press Winery and Restaurant is a hidden gem, tucked away on the main street in downtown Burbank, and features award winning wines chosen from the best world-renowned Sonoma wine county region, as well as an deliciously crafted authentic Italian menu by a world renowned Chef. The owner, Giovanni D’Andrea, has been producing his own wines since the early 1990’s, which gives Urban Press the distinction of being the only Los Angeles-area winery and fine dining establishment to craft its own wine.

Address: 316 N San Fernando Blvd, Burbank, CA 91502

Uniquely-Crafted Ambiance

Walking into Urban Press, we were welcomed by friendly and knowledgeable staff, and instantly felt the warm glow of old antique lamps adorned with gorgeous crystals. A huge selection of wines to both taste and purchase line the wall, leading you down a path to the main dining area, decorated with old relics and cozy European inspired art fixtures steeped in Old World tradition.

Urban Press would make a great date night spot, especially if you can make your way up the crystal-lined staircase to the upper mezzanine. Here you can have an even more private experience under a gorgeous chandelier, overlooking the restaurant. They provide a healthy offering of live music, ranging from jazz trios to rock and roll and more mellow singer songwriters, if you’re searching for a unique touch to your night out in Burbank. The large space also features a beautiful outdoor patio space, perfect for booking private events. If you are looking for a more casual visit to this cozy gem, mix your love of jazz and flowing mimosas at the Sunday Jazz Brunch (Yes, please!).

LA Girl’s Tasty Top Picks

The impressive wine list ranges from simple, single-varietals to complex blended ones, and we opted to set the mood off right with selecting the Romance Red. We opted for a sampling of dishes off the tasty menu, with a few of the highlights being the Beef Tartare with black truffle caviar, and Fettuccine with wild mushrooms and black truffle. Our Grilled Octopus was light and well balanced with garlic and thyme seasonings. The Lamb Shank was a delightfully savory signature Italian dish fused with a French overtone, and the homemade Silician Cannoli left us with a crunchy and sweet ending to a great night. We highly recommend our new go-to dishes, but check out the menu yourself to see what catches your eye. Beware though, you may just want to try it all!

Pro-Tip: Stop by Urban Press for a hand-tossed pizza or cute charcuterie moment before you hit the Burbank mall or catch a comedy show at Flappers.
