Better Than Sex – Dessert Restaurant Review

A Hidden Gem in West Hollywood

Think New York Dive meets  50 Shades of Grey… but as a dessert restaurantBetter Than Sex is an intimate, moody, hot spot for a late night date. Maybe not a first date… but definitely a third date. Not quite on that level with a special someone yet?  Not to worry… this is the ultimate spot for a girls night! Bachelorette weekend, Galentines party? Look no further. Grab a table or book a private room for your group to reserve for extra privacy (and humorous, blush-worthy conversation.)  Serving up an incredible selection of signature cocktails (& mocktails), wine, and to-die-for desserts, this is not only a place to go to for the sweet dishes, but an entire experience full of steamy details.

Delicious Details…

Better Than Sex goes above and beyond when it comes to details, to make your experience that much more fun and intriguing.  From individual iPad menus, to non stop sexy puns from the servers, no step is missed when creating this mesmerizing experience. Nothing makes or breaks a dining experience like the service, and we were more than impressed by ours. Now for the good stuff: every dessert is named after well… sex.(Read for yourself below,) so servers are prepped to defuse any awkward ordering into instant comical relief. Throughout our evening, we were treated with incredible attentiveness. We received recommendations on popular dishes, wine, beer cocktails… and humor.

PRO TIP: We almost MISSED these: be sure to look at the spicy ice breakers on the menu. A list of questions to ask your fellow dessert guests. The questions range from sweet to what we’ll leave up to your imagination for now… Let’s just say, you’ll know the guests around your table much BETTER than when you arrived and there will be no short supply of conversation.

Now… About the Food

We were not disappointed! Starting off with the presentation, every drink and dessert was not only stunning on the plate, but had a more than note-worthy title and lengthy description on the menu.  Everything ordered was delicious and gram-worthy, to say the least.  The servings are a perfect size to get a few and share with the table (one per person) or an extra to try.  Here were a few of our favorites… To Drink:  Love Potion 69, “Lucky” Shot, and Midnight Vixen–  To Eat:  Blueberry Birthday Suit french toast, Caress My Carrot Carrot Cake, and Missionary Crisp Apple Crumble. (Told you the titles were note-worthy!)

Extra Mile: Our waters were never empty. It takes a lot to eat sweets for dinner and the staff will make sure your glass is full at all times while you’re enjoying the spread.

Extra Favorites: Chocolate Lovers: Fever: an airy chocolate cake that tasted exactly like a brownie, paired with ice cream “balls” (have a look for yourself below)  Savory Spin: Blueberry Birthday Suit: a popular dish only available while it lasts daily. This combo of bread, blueberry and brie cheese is a sensational addition!

Extra Special: When opening the menu, don’t miss a tab called “spark” in the top left hand corner. This tab prompts the questions we mentioned earlier to add an activity to your experience and liven up the conversation had.

Extra Details: Street parking on Melrose ave is fairly open, with reliable meters throughout the neighborhoods surrounding the restaurant. Thinking of taking family out for a dessert experience? Make sure you’re comfortable with sexual puns & innuendos or consider a night out with friends instead. Lastly, don’t skip the drinks! The names and presentation are just as fun as the food!

We hope you enjoy everything as much as we did!  xx
