Best Brunch Spots in San Diego

Hi lovely! There are so many great places to escape to this spring and summer, for a well-deserved Sunday Funday brunch (or longer and more extended getaway). One of our favorite places is our sun-kissed sister to the South, San Diego. SD’s culinary scene has been on the rise for years, and the growing amount of delicious, picturesque brunch spots are booming.

To celebrate all of the glory that is the San Diego brunch scene, we recently attended the San Diego Magazine’s Brunch Bash held at the Carmel Mountain Ranch Estate. Over 30 of San Diego’s Best Restaurants delivered their best brunch creations, and girl, you better believe the avocado toast and mimosas were flowing. While at the party, we got the low down on just how food-friendly San Diego is from San Diego Magazine Publisher and Food Network’s very own Troy Johnson.  We picked out a couple of highlights in brunch fare that we think you should add to your “to-eat” list this spring and summer!

Breakfast Republic

With a variety of locations to choose from in San Diego, Breakfast Republic is perfect for either a date spot or a ‘family is in town and I need to please everyone kind of vibe. They feature a unique and tasty menu, such as S’More French Toast or Shrimp & Grits. Expert tip: get one of their fancy coffee drinks!

Breakfast Bitch

The best pairing to pancakes is also getting to curse, and Breakfast Bitch had us at the first mention of bottomless mimosas. The waffles are on point, and this place is a par-ty, located right in the heart of Hillcrest.

Cocina 35

If you are looking for old-school Mexican food with a cute pink background, this downtown hot spot is for you. Be sure to arrive early, as there is usually a wait for what many believe to be the best chilaquiles in town.

Herb and Sea

Food fans will love the companion restaurant to renowned Chef Brian Malarkey’s Herb and Wood place. Their upscale decor matches the thought and care put into the seafood forward menu, including a raw bar that will make hungry oyster lovers very happy.

Morning Glory

Ah, the place you’ve seen on TikTok with all the pink and a 3-hour wait. Morning Glory is also mentioned as a fan favorite not just because of the photo-friendly decor, but the food is also damn good too. Pro tip: get there early, put your name down, and take your friends on a two-hour hot girl walk around Little Italy while you wait.

Trust

Trust is what you may go into, but satisfaction is what you will be leaving with after brunching here. Between the ultimate sticky bun and the tacos con huevos, Trust is a perfect pairing for a day at the beach or exploring San Diego’s beautiful Balboa Park.

Whichever one you pick, enjoy all the yummy food and great scenery. Happy brunching babe!
