5 Best Ocean View (Beachside) Restaurants in LA

The only thing better than a perfect meal is a perfect meal with a gorgeous beachside view. Lucky for us Angelenos, we have over 70 miles of coastline to explore and are home to some of the tastiest food in America. Whether you’re in the mood for some high-end ambiance or a casual seafood stir fry, The LA Girl recommends these as the 5 best ocean view restaurants in LA.

Paradise Cove Beach Cafe

Address: 28128 E Pacific Coast Hwy, Malibu, CA 90265

This is an LA Girl favorite and a Malibu classic! While many beachside restaurants offer a breathtaking view, this restaurant is quite literally on the seashore! After enjoying their Gigantic Seafood Tower (and they do mean huge), you can kick off your shoes and walk it off right by the water. If you’re feeling a little lazy and full, you can rent a fluffy chaise lounge, lay under the umbrella, and sip on a watermelon daiquiri served in an actual mini watermelon. Because it is a classic, it’s best to make reservations so you can strut past everyone in line.

The Sunset Restaurant

Address: 6800 Westward Beach Rd, Malibu, CA 90265

Located only steps away from Zuma Beach, this famous restaurant offers an unbeatable view of the California sunset from all kinds of angles, hence its name! Its secluded location in a corner of Malibu allows you to get away from the hustle of city life. The laid back atmosphere mixed with a minimalist, dainty interior and a majestic orange sunset is sure to bring out your inner zen.

The Venice Whaler

Address: 10 Washington Blvd, Venice, CA 90292

If you’re taking a stroll along Washington in Venice, the Venice Whaler might seem like a regular old beach diner at first glance, but hey, never judge a book by its cover. Ask for a table upstairs to get an open view of the Venice shore, while munching on some chowder fries (yes, clam chowder poured all over fries). Don’t forget to try their Cucumber Jalapeño Margarita while you’re there for a spicy treat.

Malibu Seafood Fresh Fish Market & Patio Cafe

Address: 25653 CA-1, Malibu, CA 90265

Timing is everything when it comes to Malibu Seafood. If you have a hangry side, it’s best to come on a weekday to avoid hour-long wait times. But, yes, people willingly stand in line for an hour because their freshly fried seafood is dare we say…unmatched. Malibu Seafood also doubles as a fish market, offering an array of grilled and fried seafood from swordfish to squid steak, and even fried oysters! The best part is once you actually order, you can expect to wait no longer than a few minutes to enjoy your flaky, crispy seafood with a refreshing ocean view.

Mar’sel at Terranea

Address: 100 Terranea Way, Rancho Palos Verdes, CA 90275

If you’re in the mood for something fancy, the Mar’sel at Terranea Resort exudes sophistication and elegance. Our favorite part about Mar’sel is they will gladly adjust and craft a personalized meal to fit your diet preferences. In addition to serving some of the most visually and flavorfully creative desserts in Los Angeles, Mar’sel offers a unique vegan 5 course tasting menu (In 2022, it’s only right!).
